Key Highlights:
- Resident Evil 9 might be readying itself for a DLC release.
- On the other hand, there is barely a word about Half-Life 3โs official reveal.
- Both games are highly anticipated but weโll have to wait and see.
In a rather surprise turn of events, an insider has recently pointed out that the upcoming Resident Evil 9 (which is set to release early 2026) already has DLC in development. Capcom are clearly banking on Resident Evil 9 to be a massive success, but what about addressing the other elephant in the room here?
The elephant being of course, Half-Life 3. The game has been speculated to be in development for well over a decade, and with the series anniversary on 19th November, there is quite a lot to unpack amongst these rumors.
Resident Evil 9 Might Already Be Developing a Future DLC
As per a recent post from Dusk Golem (@AestheticGamer1) on X (formerly Twitter), Resident Evil 9 has at least one DLC in development at present, which was also reportedly mentioned to Golem multiple times prior.
There's definitely at least one DLC for Resident Evil Requiem in development right now. I've heard about it a few times, believe it stars Alyssa. https://t.co/FyIkcNYvln

The DLC is said to star Alyssa in it, but additional details on the DLC are still unknown as of the time of writing this article.
The news comes as somewhat of a surprise, given how the base Resident Evil 9 game isnโt out just yet. Capcom must be pretty confident in their game being quite good as to warrant a DLC months ahead of release.
Then again, this has been the norm for RE games since Resident Evil 5, and shouldnโt come as a complete shocker. After all, Capcom does tend to deliver its games in bits and pieces, even if it is of a very high quality.
Half Life 3 Where?
Itโs been a rough few years as a Half-Life fan. The game had its final content drop in the form of Half Life 2: Episode 2, being released on October 10, 2007 across multiple platforms outside the PC.
After years of sparse leaks and near radio silence from Valve, things took a rather interesting turn when Valve recently released a trifecta of PC gaming hardware. The last time they did something this major was with the Valve Index, which brought with it the VR only Half Life Alyx game.
It stands to reason then that Valve will most certainly have something planned for its newer hardware. This would coincidentally also go well with the new and upgraded Steam Machine, and now is a good time as any to release the third game in the franchise.

Itโs not without several leaks backing it though. There have been a multitude of leaks surrounding the game, and we know for a fact that Valve is working on a Half-Life project.
What we donโt know is the exact nature of the project, and whether it really is Half-Life 3.
Alas, November 19 is almost over and weโre yet to see Valve announce anything just yet. While there still is some heavy speculation that Valve could drop a teaser for the game during this yearโs Game Awards, it should be noted that this wouldnโt be typical of Valve.
Theyโre more likely to drop this information on a random Wednesday morning than go along with the pomp and grandeur of a reveal at The Game Awards.
Thereโs not much else to do here but wait and see, and while I donโt see Half-Life 3 coming just yet, I can remain a bit hopeful, hoping for a surprise.
