Pokemon GO has a new Community Day Classic event coming up, this time around featuring Deino with special activities. As expected with a Community Day event, Deino will spawn in huge numbers with a high chance for it to appear shiny.
Pokemon GO Launches A Deino Community Day
Niantic has revealed details of the next Pokemon GO event happening this weekend, as they are hosting a Community Day Classic featuring Deino. The event will take place on Saturday May 16, 2026, happening from 2-5pm local time to all players, no matter what region or time zone they are in, as you will get to experience several activities in a three hour time period.
As expected with a Community Day event, Deino will spawn in huge numbers with a high chance for it to appear shiny and allowing players to earn limited time event bonus rewards too.
Event Bonuses and Special Rewards
Community Day Special Research- For $1.99 players will be able to access the Deino Community Day Classic exclusive Special Research. Complete this research for even more rewards, including the following.
- 3 encounters with Deino that have a Special Background
- Additional encounters with Deino
- 1 Premium Battle Pass
- 1 Rare Candy XL
Event Bonuses- Event time period only rewards and buffs.
- 3× XP for catching Pokémon
- Incense (excluding Daily Adventure Incense) activated during the event will last for three hours.
- Take a few snapshots during Community Day Classic for a surprise!
- Lure Modules will last for one hour and may attract the featured Pokemon.
Field Research- May Community Day Classic themed Field Research will also allow players to catch Deino to earn rewards such as.

All About Deino During The Community Day
During the event players will find a lot of Deino which players can evolve Zweilous into Hydreigon from 2-9 p.m. in your local time on May 16, it will learn the charged move Brutal Swing- Trainer Battles: 55 power, Gyms and raids: 65 power
If player miss out on evolving it during this period, they will likely be able to evolve it during a Community Day weekend event in December to get Brutal Swing. If players do not want to wait, players can use an Elite TM to get the move.
Hydreigon is a powerhouse. As a regular gym/raid attacker, it is among the cream of the crop as a dark type. Set it up with Bite and Brutal Swing for the most success. In PvP, Hydreigon does see use across all three leagues, with shadow Hydreigon actually being the preferred pick. Set it up with Dragon Breath, Brutal Swing, and Fly to make the most of this three headed beast in PvP.
As per old research by the now defunct website The Silph Road, shiny rates on Community Days are about 1 in 24, which means that if you keep playing throughout the three hours, players should find quite a few shiny Pokemon.
