The director of the Infamous PlayStation series has said he would love to revisit the franchise one day, but suggested that no such plans are currently on the table. Could this means a new Infamous may come in future hopefully.
Thoughts On Infamous On The VGC Podcast
Jordan Middler dropped the information on the latest episode of the VGC Podcast. The group were discussing what various PlayStation studios are up to, and naturally Sucker Punch came into the conversation.
“Iโm curious to see what Sucker Punch does forward. Like, especially with the film, I assume theyโll do another Ghost Of, but there is a groundswell of people that want Infamous. Iโm under the impression that there is an Infamous thing happening somewhere else in PlayStation at the minute, not tied to them”
Jordan Middler moves on forward with the conversation, and the fact that something Infamous related is in the works is never brought up again. Jordan Middler also doesnโt specify if itโs a game or some sort of other projects, perhaps a TV show, animated fil, comic series or something else.
Ghost of Tsushima’s Game Designers Take On This
Sucker Punch game designer Nate Fox, who also worked on Ghost of Tsushima and the Ghost of Yotei, was asked if he would like to one day revisit the action series. Fox said that while heโd love to work on more Infamous content, Sucker Punch is currently focused on developing one game at a time.
โI would love to work on more Infamous. I would love to see a trilogy rerelease, but Sucker Punch is a one game at a time shop, and right now we are very focused on finishing Ghost of Yลtei,โ he said.
The last entry in the Infamous series was Infamous Second Son, which was released in 2014, starring Troy Baker. Follow up DLC, Infamous Last Light was later released and received a separate retail release. Since Infamous, Sucker Punch has developed Ghost of Tsushima, the critically praised samurai game set on the Japanese island of Tsushima.
Fox discussed Ghost of Yotei in VGCโs own interview with the director this week, including his thoughts on balancing historical accuracy and creative liberty in the game, which is set in Hokkaido in 1603.
โOur game is very inspired by history, but we are not making a stone-for-stone recreation,โ he said. โOur game is a work of fiction. However, we do want to make the world feel authentic and be very respectful to the cultures that existed there. Thankfully, we are a part of Sony. So we have a lot of colleagues in Tokyo who really help us out, who give us a lot of guidance.
What Infamous Is About And why Fans Have Been Wanting New One
In 2024, there was mentions of both of those franchises getting revived by Sony. There were also rumours of a PC port of Infamous 2, although Sonyโs recent retreat from PC gaming probably means that wonโt happen.
This game is a superhero action adventure franchise developed by Sucker Punch Productions. Players control “Conduits” and navigate open world cities while making branching moral choices that affect their powers, appearance, and the story’s outcome. With the last game in the series to be released back in 2011 and since then fans have been waiting for a sequel or or something new in the series, as it delivered players an experience that no other game was doing back then it was something completely new for people to play and feel like an super hero themselves.
