The latest GFN Thursday is here, and it’s packed with exciting news for gamers. The star of the show is ‘Mafia: The Old Country’, which is available to stream from day one on NVIDIA’s cloud gaming service, GeForce NOW.
But that’s not all. This week also brings 4 more games to the platform, including the full release of Stormgate, early access for Titan Quest II, and a major update for Marvel Rivals, according to the official blog post.
Mafia: The Old Country
Imagine entering the shoes of a struggling man in Sicily in the early 1900s. That is where Mafia: The Old Country takes you.
You play as Enzo Favara, a desperate man who is ready to take risks and prove himself in the dangerous world of organized crime.
This game is a prequel to the famous Mafia series. It is not an open-world game where you can do anything; you follow a story that moves forward step by step. Every choice matters. Whether you’re taking someone down quietly or causing chaos in broad daylight, your actions have consequences.
The best part for GeForce NOW members is no downloads and no waiting.
Normally, you’d have to install a huge game file, sometimes 50GB or more, before you can play. With cloud gaming, you just click “play” and you’re in the action instantly. And if you haven’t played the other Mafia games, all three are already on GeForce NOW, ready to stream.
Titan Quest II — Ancient myths
If you enjoy action role-playing games like Diablo, Titan Quest II will feel familiar. It’s set in a beautiful world inspired by Greek mythology, where you’ll fight mythical creatures like harpies and centaurs, explore ancient ruins, and collect loot to make your character stronger.
Here’s the twist—you don’t need a powerful gaming PC to play it. GeForce NOW runs the game on its servers, so you can play it on almost anything: your old laptop, your tablet, even your phone. The graphics and performance still feel like you’re using a high-end gaming computer, without spending money on expensive gear.
Marvel Rivals 3.5 update
The superhero battle game Marvel Rivals is getting a big update on August 8. This is Season 3.5, and it’s bringing a new playable character, Blade, the vampire-hunting “Daywalker.”
The update also adds a new Resource Rumble mode, where teams fight to control certain points on the map. The old “Team-Up” moves are gone, and new ways to combine characters’ powers are in. Some heroes are getting stronger, others are getting balanced.
For example, Doctor Strange has more magical attacks, Groot can stretch further, and Magneto’s shields are weaker now because they were too powerful before.
Again, with GeForce NOW, you don’t have to wait for big patches to download. The game updates instantly, so you can jump in right away, whether you’re on your lunch break with your phone or relaxing at home on your TV.
Stormgate 1.0
Real-time strategy (RTS) games are making a comeback, and Stormgate is leading the way. It has officially launched out of early access, and it’s not just another copy of StarCraft. It’s faster, has more personality, and is built to be fun whether you play alone or with friends.
- Three unique factions like Humans, Demons, and a mysterious third group.
- A 14-mission story campaign with characters that talk and joke with each other.
- Co-op and competitive modes for players who want to challenge others.
Normally, RTS games require a strong PC because of all the units, effects, and calculations happening on screen. But GeForce NOW lets you play even on something like a Chromebook without losing quality.
Other new arrivals this week on GeForce
Along with the main titles, these games are also coming to GeForce NOW:
- Assassin’s Creed Mirage (now on PC Game Pass) — Explore Baghdad with parkour and stealth, no 100GB download needed.
- Amnesia: The Dark Descent (free on Epic Games Store) — A classic horror game you can now stream instantly.
- HUNTER×HUNTER NEN×IMPACT — A stylish anime fighting game for fans of the Hunter × Hunter series.
A few years ago, many people didn’t believe cloud gaming could work well for big-budget games. But things have changed fast. Services like GeForce NOW now launch major titles like Mafia: The Old Country on day one, while also delivering instant updates for games like Marvel Rivals.
