Key highlights:

  • Infinity Nikki is facing yet another controversy with furniture pricing.
  • The devs have compensated with a host of freebies, alongwith the promise to improve the system in the second Infinity Nikki 1.9 update.
  • Infinity Nikki has been marred in controversy since its launch, and unfortunately, the trend is continuing even to this day.

Infinity Nikki, a popular cosy game, has run into a major controversy yet again, and this time it’s over furniture pricing. The goal in Infinity Nikki is simple. All you need to do is explore the world and collect different outfits. There’s not much combat going on here anyway, so collecting different magic-imbued costumes is the main highlight of your journey.

With players collecting and working on different styles for their character, the ability to build a home was considered to be an integral feature in Infinity Nikki. The developers introduced a new home building system loaded with new furniture items. However, players weren’t too thrilled about it, thanks to how highly priced these items were. The developers quickly corrected their actions with an apology and a plan to fix all the problems that were caused by this update.

Infinity Nikki Developers to Provide Freebies As Compensation for High Furniture Prices

With the furniture being priced a bit too high, the developers, in a note, mentioned that they’d be removing the packs from the Home Gallery for the time being. These would return alongside the second half of the Infinity Nikki 1.9 update, at a later date. Future content will be updated before they drop, plus the items included in the Stellar Poems Pack and the Leisure Tea Brewing Sets I, II and III will get sketches.

Additionally, the developers have promised more constructive and significant changes to the housing system, with the option to add open-world decorations in the future, following performance optimization. That’s not all, as compensation to the players for the inconvenience, the developers have prepared around 999 pieces of free furniture, and a 90,000 sq.m. island with 100m build height. While some would say that the developers have overcompensated to a certain extent, their prompt response is what is worth noting here. Infinity Nikki is a growing game, and free goodies are a surefire way to keep the player base happy.

It’s not exactly very uncommon to see players express their disappointment over a faulty service, or something that doesn’t sit well with them. For any title, having a vocal player base is an important element, which plays a major role in long-term success. While there are a lot of titles that have an active community like Infinity Nikki, it’s only a rare few teams of developers who actually listen to what the community wants.

Infinity Nikki’s Run Ins With Controversy Seems to Have No End

For a game that was released in 2024, Infinity Nikki does have a list of controversies that have affected the game since launch. Back in December 2024, players lashed out at the developers after random and unintuitive UI changes. Fast forward to May 2025, where players expressed severe discontent with the changes to the introductory segment and the devs decision to change the costumes.

In the 1.5 update, the developers broke each costume down into 11 pieces. Since it’s a gacha game, it does have a pity system, but to get a complete costume, players had to invest in a maximum of 220 pulls, which is quite a lot. As for the intro, Infold Games changed the original scene with a Sea of Stars level. Many players consider this to be a severe downgrade because it relegates a character called Ena to a side-role, changing the overall tone of the game completely.

There was a lot of outrage, and fans called for boycotting the game altogether. However, Infold Games started muting the term “boycott” on their social media channels. The players then switched it up and started using the term “girlcott”, which finally got the devs attention, forcing them to communicate with the players about how they intended to tackle these issues.

Unfortunately, controversies have become a trend with Infinity Nikki. If this does continue, then the future of the game looks bleak, no matter how many freebies the devs end up offering.
