Key Highlights:
- A 15 year old talented modder has managed to do the impossible, and create a crossplay mod between Hytale and Minecraft.
- Thereโs a few limitations in place, but development is progressing at a rapid pace.
- Hytale is growing a thriving modding scene as well.
A modder by the name of SSquadTeam on Reddit has managed to enable crossplay between the Java clients of both Minecraft and the recently released Hytale. This impossible feat was conjured by the 15 year old individual, which makes its progress all the more awe inspiring.
That being said, not everything works out of the box, and there are more than a few things missing in this โproof of conceptโ. However, it is still an impressive showcase nonetheless and should tell you all you need to know about the passion and talent behind the modding communities.

Young Modder Brings Hytale and Minecraft Together With Crossplay Mod
Sadat Sahib has managed to do the impossible, and create a bridge between two similar yet very different games. Weโre talking about Minecraft and Hytale here of course, but what makes this feat all the more impressive is its rapid development.
It all started with a seemingly innocuous post on Reddit on the official Hytale subreddit, where the poster released screenshots of themselves enabling a work in progress build of the cross play mod.
This was followed by a slew of updates across X, where the user has made some remarkable breakthroughs, including being able to get water and other fluids interacting in the crossplay, followed by a complete one minute long demo/showcase of the two games running simultaneously.

As you can see, it’s pretty darn impressive, and feels almost impossible, but technically works by setting Hytale as the host of the crossplay session. Thereโs a few more limitations in place though, but most of these have been addressed.
The effort now supports a bunch of different features, the most notable of which include the following:
- World time and animation synchronization
- Cross platform combat
- The ability for the Minecraft client to interact with the Hytale world (wasnโt possible just a few short hours ago!)
- Cross game chat
- Item exchanging between the platforms
The project is in rapid development, and you can keep track of it on their GitHub page and X accounts.
