Gears of War Reloaded PS5 Platinum Trophy Teases More Gears Games For PlayStation 5

Gears of War Reloaded is Finally on the PS5 Gears of War Reloaded is Finally on the PS5

Key Highlights:

  • PlayStation could soon get access to more Gears games in the future.
  • The information about this was teased in the Platinum trophy available only when you reach 100% completion.
  • Although there’s no release date yet, Gears of War: E-day could release on the PS5 soon.

Gears of War Reloaded is an iconic Xbox exclusive that finally made its way to the PlayStation 5 on August 26 this year. With this, Xbox proves that they’ve put the console war behind them and are focusing on letting players enjoy the games on platforms they’re most comfortable with. However, the game features a secret hidden in plain sight, which subtly hints at the future of the franchise on the PS5.

Gears of War has been a franchise that helped Microsoft establish the Xbox major contender in the console war back in the early 2000s and 2010s. With Reloaded being the remake of the first title, it serves as a perfect entry point for players who wanted to get their hands on the game, but couldn’t because it wasn’t available on the PlayStation. After 19 long years, they finally have a chance to experience the title which put Xbox on the console war map.

Could More Gears of War Games Soon Be on the PlayStation 5?

Although it’s hard to answer this question now, there’s a high chance of that happening soon. Like every other game on the platform, Gears of War Reloaded also has a set of trophies that you earn for achieving specific feats as you play through the different levels. Once you have that 100% completion, you get the coveted Platinum Trophy.

It’s a simple addition to your profile, and does nothing more than let you have some bragging rights when talking to friends. However, if one were to look closely at the Platinum Trophy, it reads as “Your adventure is over, for now…” This line is exactly what has sparked the speculation of more Gears games making their way to the PS5 in future.

It’s also worth noting that Xbox players don’t have access to this achievement, and the way it’s framed, it feels like it’s been put there specifically for fans on the PS5 system, especially if they’re playing Gears of War Reloaded. It’s a very unique way of teasing upcoming content, and has definitely managed to do what it intended; generating more interest in the franchise as a whole.

Initially, when the information about Gears of War Reloaded releasing on the PlayStation 5 was leaked, it was believed that it would include the OG trilogy. However, that doesn’t seem to be the case. Additionally, it would be a massive disservice to the franchise and unfair to players if Xbox just released the first part and decided to not release the others on Sony’s console.

When Does the Next Gears of War Launch on the PS5?

As of now, there’s no official information about a new Gears of War game making its way to the PS5. However, rumors about Gears E-Day are already doing rounds on the internet. Additionally, rumors of part two and three of the OG trilogy being ported to the console soon, are also on the rise.

Since these are old that needs to be remade for a new system, it will be a time consuming process. So, it’s unlikely that we’ll see any of the games make their way to PlayStation anytime this year. Considering that Starfield could likely join the PlayStation library next year, you could expect to see a Gears title join at that point. No matter when they release, Xbox isn’t stopping at just one title for now. If you’re a fan of the franchise, then you’ll get access to all the Gears games on the PlayStation eventually, but you just have to be a bit patient for that to happen.
