Back at work on BF6 today. I was yearning for that 2pm playtest all morning. Its pretty addicting, isn’t it? #scratchingthatitch

But if you thought the beta’s maps felt a little cramped, you are not alone. Many players have been vocal about the smaller scale, with some complaining that matches feel too fast-paced. However, the game’s creator finally responded on this matter and provided a great relief to anxious gaming enthusiasts.
The developers at DICE have confirmed that bigger, more expansive maps are coming and they will be revealed “soon enough.”
David Sirland, Battlefield’s lead producer, took to X (formerly Twitter) to address player concerns head-on. He explained that the beta’s tighter maps were intentional and it was designed to provide a glimpse of the game’s high-octane, fast-paced combat.
But he also dropped a major hint: “Large maps exist.” According to Sirland, the speed of gameplay is directly linked to map size, which means that when these bigger battlegrounds finally drop, the pacing will feel drastically different.
If this is true, Battlefield 6 would maintain its legacy and provide an impressive gaming experience to its loyal fanbase. Suppose you have been craving those classic, sprawling Battlefield experiences where strategy and positioning matter just as much as reflexes. In that case, your patience is about to pay off with the latest sequel of one of the best action games.
New Beta Weekend Reveals Major Details about Battlefield 6
With the second phase of the open beta kicking off, EA and DICE are not holding back. After a rocky launch with Battlefield 2042, the franchise needed a win, and Battlefield 6 seems to be delivering by helping them to control damage.
The first beta weekend has attracted over half a million players on PC alone, and with new content dropping in the second wave, those numbers are only expected to climb.
So, what’s new?
For beginners, fan-favorite modes like Rush and Squad Deathmatch are making a comeback, which will give them quick-gameplay thrill. Rush, for the uninitiated, is a high-stakes battle where attackers must destroy M-COM stations while defenders scramble to stop them, similar to classic Counter-Strike (CS) gameplay.
Meanwhile, Squad Deathmatch calls four teams into a chaotic free-for-all map where survival is the only goal.
And if that is not enough, there is more in this game. A reworked Breakthrough mode will force players to stick to class-specific weapons, which adds a fresh layer of tactical depth.
But the real star of the show? A brand-new map called Empire State, set in the war-torn streets of Brooklyn. Unlike the wide-open spaces teased by Sirland, this one’s built for close-quarters infantry combat—think tight alleyways, crumbling buildings, and brutal firefights around every corner.
Unlock Rewards Before the Full Game Drops
EA is not just handing out new maps and modes. They are also giving players a chance to earn exclusive rewards before Battlefield 6’s official October 10 launch.
Complete challenges like capturing 42 flags in Conquest or securing 10 sectors in Rush, and you’ll walk away with vehicle skins, weapon packages, and even a slick new dog tag.
These unlocks will carry over to the full game, so every minute spent grinding in the game now will pay off later.
The second beta weekend kicks off August 14 at 4 AM ET and runs until August 17, with no early access restrictions this time. This means everyone can jump in straight away.
If you are running Valorant, you might want to uninstall it first. Battlefield 6’s anti-cheat system has been ruthless, as VTuber ‘RileyCS’ learned the hard way after getting banned mid-stream over cheating allegations.
So, will Battlefield 6’s larger maps live up to the hype? Only time will tell.
Recently, the Global Gaming League (GGL), a leading entertainment sports league fusing video gaming, celebrity, music, and culture, is expected to launch its inaugural season, SZN Zero, on August 23rd. It will bring the heat.
