Content updates are routinely delivered for all games past their initial launch, and Black Myth Wukong is no exception to this either. The game recently received its version 1.0.21.23831 update, which aims to mostly fix issues related to super resolution scaling.
That being said, the update is mandatory, and brings with it a few technical issues that must be dealt with first. Read on to learn more about the patch, and whatโs included with it.
Black Myth Wukong Update 1.0.21.23831 Full Patch Notes
Black Myth Wukongโs latest update brought with it quite a few bug fixes, aimed at fixing up incorrect animations and performance related bugs to super resolution upscaling.
Hereโs the full patch notes:
- Fixed an issue where Super Resolution could not be set correctly after applying Recommended Graphics Settings.
- Fixed an issue where performance was below expectations due to a malfunctioning Super Resolution setting.
- Fixed incorrect water behavior in the Heart of Birthstone area.
- Fixed incorrect snow interaction behavior under certain conditions.
- Fixed an issue where using Non-White’s Spirit in the Hut of Immortality caused the game to crash.
- Fixed an issue where, under certain graphics quality settings, visual effects for some Stone Monkey skills disappeared too early.
- Fixed an issue where Controller Type settings were not saved correctly after relaunching the game.
The most interesting of these updates would likely be in the super resolution tweaks. The update seems to imply that the bundled super resolution tech was underperforming by a considerable margin (or atleast enough to mandate a patch).

Post update, we should be seeing some noticeable gains in performance for Black Myth Wukong.
Black Myth Wukong Update 1.0.21.23831 Pre-Patch Pointers
Game Science has provided a few pre patch pointers to players, intended as a โread before you proceed installingโ kind of warning.
The patch size has been mentioned to be around 2 GB, which stands as being in the middle of the road as far as patch sizes go. However, the developers do recommend leaving surplus free storage in your system, as the files will be decompressed (and then recompressed) for the duration of the patch install.
Players who may find themselves stuck at the update can refer to the official installation and patch FAQ for more fixes. That being said, make sure not to interrupt the installation process, and keep your device plugged in during the install.
Do not shut off your system mid install, and make sure no conflicting programs are present, and you should be good.
Keep in mind that the update will force another shader recompilation once itโs applied, so make sure to be patient while the whole process is finalized.
Fair warning though, this patch might have a tendency to break any installed mods. These issues range from corrupted save files and error pop ups during gameplay, to not being able to launch the game at all.
Players have been recommended to uninstall all mods, and verify the integrity of the game files before launching Black Myth Wukong post update. We will likely have to wait for a few compatibility fixes from the mod creators for now.
