Key Highlights:

  • Ubisoft is set to launch two remakes by March 31, 2026.
  • One of these remakes is of an older (but still massively popular) Assassinโ€™s Creed game.
  • The other remake is based on the 3D, modern Prince of Persia series.

Itโ€™s no secret that Ubisoft has seen better days as of late, with the large scale video game publisher and developer financially struggling. The company is rumored to be in talks of a buyout, and things do appear to be in a do or die situation.

The game company is aiming for a complete revamp of its divisions, with new projects set across the lineup, including some dormant franchises. There have been reports of two remakes, which could potentially be the trump cards Ubisoft needs to jump back into its player baseโ€™s graces.

Ubisoft Might Be Set to Release Two Remakes in 2026

As per a recent exclusive from Insider Gamingโ€™s Grant Taylor Hill, the much anticipated, heavily rumored Assassinโ€™s Creed Black Flag remake might be set to release before March 31, 2026.ย

In other words, this will be set before the end of the companyโ€™s fiscal year in 2026. Going further into the post, the slide also mentions the Prince of Persia Sands of Time remake, which also has the same launch window.

These leaks arenโ€™t without their basis though, and the project itself has been covered extensively before. However, leaks are still leaks and there very well could be an unforeseen delay to the release of these games.

As such, temper expectations and wait until it is officially announced.

Everything We Know About the Sands of Time Remake

The Prince of Persia Sands of Time remake is based on the 2003 video game of the same name. The Sands of Time was a massive shift in the franchiseโ€™s direction, propelling it into an excellent 3D platformer that defined a generation.

Prince of Persia was Ubisoftโ€™s flagship franchise back in the day, and it is nice to see Ubisoft try to revive it, even if it is only in the form of a remake.

As far as what we know about the remake so far, there isnโ€™t a whole lot. The game could be making an appearance at this yearโ€™s Game Awards, but how it will actually pan out post release remains to be seen.

That being said, the recent Prince of Persia titles have been of pristine quality, and weโ€™re confident that Ubisoft will be able to deliver.

Everything We Know About the Black Flag Remake

The Black Flag remake is based on the Assassinโ€™s Creed game of the same name, being released back in 2013 for the PC, Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3. The game was massively successful and even received ports to modern platforms and even unconventional ones such as the Wii U.

Going back to the remake, it is set as a proper remake that has been built from the ground up using the in house Anvil Engine. The remake should feature a lot of visual upgrades and some niceties such as frame generation and FSR/DLSS support.

The Black Flag remake will also restore a part of the cut content from the 2013 version of the game. Interestingly, the game will do away with the modern day sequences, eliminating parts of Mary Reedโ€™s storyline in the process.

This might disappoint some fans who were interested in observing the modern day version of Assassinโ€™s Creed (even if it did get stale after the Desmond saga).

The only way forward is uphill for Ubisoft, and they might just be able to pull this off.
