Key Highlights:
- Steam has listed a bunch of free game trials for everyone to try out.
- The games on offer range from Dead By Daylight to Fallout 76.
- Some of these titles also have heavy discounts on them as well.
Steam routinely offers free games from time to time, and while they are usually a lot more small scale when compared to the likes of Epic Gamesโ own offerings, they are still worth a look into.
As such, we will be looking into a list of all the free games (game trials included) for Steam as of January 30, 2026. We will also be listing when these offers expire as well.
The Best Free Games on Steam As Of January 2026
Do note that most of these titles are free to play until a certain date. In other words, it’s a free trial that doesnโt add the game to your account. Regardless, it is a fun little diversion that should net you a few hours of enjoyable gameplay.
The first game on this particular list is Sker Ritual, which is best described as zombie survival first person shooter. Players will have to endure waves of vicious, mutated foes as they go through a gauntlet of challenges, unlocking weapons and powers in the process.
The game is free to play until February 5, 2026.
Next we have Hotel Architect, a strategy sim game that takes a ton of inspiration from the likes of Sim City. As the name implies, Hotel Architect has you design, build and manage hotels across the globe, with various fun and quirky challenges to go through as well.
The game is in early access and is free to play until February 2, 2026.
Now we enter the heavy hitters, and we begin with the first of four entries in the list, starting with Deep Rock Galactic. This is a 1 to 4 player coop first person shooter that features cyberpunk elements and futuristic vistas, and a procedurally generated game world that is destructible.
The game holds an Overwhelmingly Positive rating on Steam, and is at a 70% discount. It can also be played for free until February 3, 2026.

Dead By Daylight has always been a popular choice amongst multiplayer/coop fans, and this asymmetric game has players pit against monsters in a desperate battle for survival. The game is currently having its Stranger Things Chapter 2 crossover, and has a free trial until February 2, 2026.
Next we have Grounded 2, a sequel to the intriguing and often underappreciated Grounded. As a sequel, Grounded 2 expands upon the original, but still keeps the core formula intact (which has you jump in a coop game as you build your miniature base and survive the wilderness).
The game can be played for free until February 2, 2026, after which you will have to pay in full. Keep in mind that Grounded is in Early Access, and is under constant development.
We finalize our list with Fallout 76, which takes nearly twenty five years after the world ending events (with the follow up of nuclear armageddon) of the previous entries.
Unlike other Fallout games though, 76 is more of a coop/multiplayer game and is kind of designed as an MMO-lite experience in the Fallout universe. Thereโs a ton of progression, secrets and content to uncover, and the team at Bethesda has been quite good at supporting the game.
Fallout 76 is currently having a crossover with the Amazon Prime TV series, and is free to play until February 5, 2026. Itโs also at a massive 80% off.
