Silent Hill 2 Remakeโ€™s ‘Born From a Wish’ DLC Might Be in Development

Key Highlights:

  • Itโ€™s been over a year since the Silent Hill 2 remake was released.
  • The remake is notably missing the Born from a Wish expansion.
  • There is a possibility that it could still be under development.

The Silent Hill 2 remake from Bloober Team was one of the more unexpected releases of 2024. The game had been in development for a while now, and Konami wasnโ€™t exactly on the best of terms with its audience back then.

Bloober Team managed to defy all expectations and release a remake that was, in a word, excellent. However, the remake wasnโ€™t exactly complete, with a few key missing components, the most notable of which was the โ€˜Born from a Wishโ€™ expansion.

Silent Hill 2 Remakeโ€™s โ€˜Born From a Wishโ€™ DLC Is Still Far Away

When Silent Hill 2 was launched worldwide, it was far from complete. Later re-releases brought with them a small but impactful number of additional contents, including the โ€˜Born from a Wishโ€™ expansion.

Born from a Wish isnโ€™t your typical DLC in the sense that it is rather short, and barely counts as one. There isnโ€™t a whole lot of gameplay, but the story presented does help tie up a few loose ends (and bring up a whole lot more).

Interestingly enough, Born from a Wish was noted to be entirely absent from the remake, with many speculating its addition as a separate, paid DLC down the line. This however, never took place.

That hasnโ€™t stopped fans from speculating its existence though. The game was recently released on PlayStationโ€™s PS Plus Extra tier on October 21, 2025 as part of the Halloween lineup.

This made many speculate whether the game was preparing for something major, which also turned out to be a disappointment, given that we have barely any information currently.

That being said, the remake is expected to be released for the Xbox Series X/S and Nintendo Switch 2 consoles soon, on account of its one year PlayStation exclusivity period coming to an end.

To make matters worse, Salome Gunnarsdottir recently mentioned that she was not approached by either Konami or Bloober Team for plans of a Born from a Wish DLC for the Silent Hill 2 remake.

This was mentioned during a Twitch livestream. Salome is the voice actor for both Maria and Mary Shepherd-Sunderland in the remake, so her word does hold some credibility here.

However, we also have to consider the fact that she could be under a Non Disclosure Agreement (NDA), which would not let her speak publicly about her future roles. In other words, this means that there is still hope, and that the DLC is still on the cards.

Whatโ€™s the โ€˜Born From a Wishโ€™ DLC About?

Born from a Wish is a side story, packaged as a DLC. The game takes place moments before the events of Jamesโ€™ entry into the town of Silent Hill, and follows Maria as its protagonist.

The DLC begins with Maria waking up and making her way across to the town. After a series of misadventures and interactions with some rather odd NPCs, she goes on to look for James, whom she eventually meets at the park, and the story continues from then on with the main campaign for Silent Hill 2.

Itโ€™s a cryptic DLC that somehow manages to make the game feel a lot more confusing than it already is. Itโ€™s also quite short, which is a let down.

That being said, Bloober Team and Konami could surprise us by releasing the DLC for the remake with additional content to go along with it, which could greatly improve things.
