Fans were understatedly disheartened when Ubisoft failed to show up during the 2025 Game Awards, and the future of the series seemed to be forever stuck in limbo, which was quite an unfortunate development for such a beloved and now neglected franchise.
However, a recent report from a well regarded X account has sent users in a frenzy, given that it suggested a potential shadow drop for tomorrow, which is a bit surprising.
PopuniverseX Teases a Shadow Drop for the Prince of Persia Sands of Time Remake Tomorrow
As per X account popuniverseX, the Prince of Persia Sands of Time remake is expected to be shadow dropped tomorrow. The user based this information on the fact that a build of the remake received a file titled ‘game-release-tomorrow.png’.
The images were added and updated today, January 14, 2026 suggesting that an imminent reveal was due tomorrow, January 15, 2026.
As of the time of writing this article, this claim has gone unverified, but there have been some rather amusing developments in the meanwhile.
The Account Has Since Been Terminated
The account that posted this particular ‘leak’ has since been suspended from X. It is presumed that Ubisoft might have ‘taken action’ on this account, choosing to remove it from the internet on account of the release date leak.
It is entirely possible that Ubisoft actually planned to shadow drop the game tomorrow, and this sudden reveal was not taken too favorably by them, with the company choosing to eliminate what was possibly the biggest and most vocal Prince of Persia accounts on the internet.

It’s a really sad way to treat a fan page, and combined with the fact that the game has had next to zero marketing makes for a very precarious affair. This is undoubtedly not going to sit well with fans across the globe, and the fallout might be something that Ubisoft will want to avoid, given that it is running rather low on player patience as of late.
Is Ubisoft Really Releasing the Sands of Time Remake Tomorrow?
While there is no certain way to be sure that the Sands of Time remake will indeed be releasing the day after, the suspension of popuniverseX’s X account does bring with it some rather interesting questions.
It most certainly lends a sense of credibility to these claims, which could have otherwise been deemed as unsubstantial and unfounded. The whole situation is a mess, and we will likely have to wait until tomorrow to see how this all goes.
In the meanwhile, the Sands of Time remake is rumored to be shaping up quite well so far, with many analysts hinting at a potential January 2026 release, with the game being mostly being feature complete by now.
