Key Highlights:
- The Resident Evil Showcase Special starts on January 15, 2026, with a focus on Resident Evil: Requiem.
- Requiem releases on February 27, 2026. However, Capcom likely has a few surprises in hand.
- Nintendo Switch 2 ports are likely to be revealed.
Capcomโs resurgence was heralded by the arrival of Resident Evil 7: Biohazard, a bold new take on the then mediocre and aging franchise. Itโs safe to say that Capcom has been on a winning streak lately, and they plan to extend that even further with the release of Resident Evil 9: Requiem, later next month.
That being said, a recent teaser seemed to indicate that Capcom has more than one trick up its sleeve. Hereโs what we know about the possibility for another Resident Evil game being released this year.
Upcoming Resident Evil Showcase Could Tease Multiple Games
A 12 minute Resident Evil Showcase Special is scheduled for January 15, 2026 and will be hosted on multiple social media accounts, including the official Game Awards YouTube channel.
The presentation is expected to be heavily focused around the upcoming Resident Evil Requiem, which seems natural, given that it is Capcomโs upcoming blockbuster.

Interestingly enough, a footnote present at the end of the trailer for the presentation seems to suggest that there may be more than one game revealed during the showcase.
Make no mistake though, the showcase will be razor focused around Requiem only, and we suspect that a playable demo for the game is in order, set to be released as soon as the showcase ends.
Is Capcom Teasing a Code Veronica Remake?
Released back in 2000, Resident Evil: Code Veronica is a survival horror title initially created as an exclusive for the SEGA Dreamcast. The game has since been ported over to multiple platforms, including the PC and PS3.
The game has since amassed a cult following, and is widely regarded as one of the best Resident Evil games out there. Itโs only natural that fans would want Capcom to revisit this classic, and there was a ton of speculation surrounding the arrival of its remake.
That being said, this is rather unlikely. After all, releasing a major remake could potentially steal the thunder from Requiem, and Capcom wouldnโt want this to cannibalize into their sales.
As such, do not expect news for a Code Veronica remake anytime soon.
More Switch 2 Ports Seem Very Likely Instead
What is more likely though, is the release of multiple Nintendo Switch 2 ports for Resident Evil games. Capcom has been steadily pushing its games across multiple platforms, even some that many would consider unconventional.
The series has already found success in being ported over to Apple devices, and the Nintendo Switch 2 appears to be their next target.
Requiem has already been confirmed to be receiving a full fledged port to the Nintendo Switch 2, complete with DLSS upscaling and the works to ensure a reasonably smooth gaming experience (for a handheld).
That being said, weโre yet to see native ports of existing Resident Evil remakes on the system (even though it is more than capable of running these games).
This presentation would be the perfect way to introduce Switch 2 ports of existing Resident Evil titles, and prepare potential players ahead of Requiemโs release on February 27, 2026.
We expect there to be multiple titles being pushed at the end of the event, and hopefully a few more playable demos for the system.
