Ever since the release of Pocket Monsters Red and Green for Nintendoโs Game Boy console, the Pokemon franchise has managed to capture the hearts of players worldwide, offering a monster catching experience like no other.
Developer Game Freak has since continually innovated in the space, offering new iterations of the series with varying degrees of success. A recent leak has detailed Game Freakโs plans for the franchise up until 2030, including the release of the mysterious โProject Seedโ, which promises to be a fundamental shift in the seriesโ presentation and gameplay.
Pokemon Leaks Lay Out Game Freakโs Plans for the Franchise up Until 2030
As detailed within Reseteraโs threads, a new set of leaks surrounding the Pokemon franchise has emerged online, laying out developer Game Freakโs plans for the series until 2030.
Interestingly, this is a continuation of the Teraleaks from 2024, and includes a full calendar for Game Freakโs schedule, as mentioned in the thread earlier.

In a nutshell, we have the following planned releases:
- Gaia: Gen 10, also likely to be known as Pokemon Wind/Waves. Targets a 2026 release with additional DLC content in 2027.
- Ringo: Also known as Pokemon Legends: Galar, projected to release in 2027.
- Seed: A very new kind of Pokemon game set across 4 regions.
- Unnamed Project: This particular version is expected to be released in 2030.
- A multi-region Pokemon remake in 2028 or later.
- New Pokopia DLC.
Along with the titles, the estimated development budgets of the franchise have also emerged online, with Pokemon Winds/Waves approximating around 3 Billion Yen, quite a hefty number.
As per these leaked screenshots (as mentioned in the earlier thread), the series is going for a massive graphical overhaul as well, bringing it more in line with current gen titles in terms of visual fidelity.
Do note that the information presented here is based on leaks. As such, take this with a grain of salt, and expect quite a few changes to the overall schedule, likely due to shifting timelines and crunches.
Project Seed Is Perhaps the Most Exciting Pokemon Title Weโve Had in Years
Of all of the proposed titles, Project Seed is shaping up to be the most intriguing one of them all. As per these leaks, Seed is perhaps the most ambitious Pokemon project that combines the four Japanese regions of Kanto, Johto, Hoenn and Sinnoh together into one world map.
This multi region game is also expected to be an MMO of sorts, which is a bold shift in the direction of the franchise, which has traditionally only attributed itself toward single player experiences (albeit with some limited form of multiplayer gameplay).
Pokรฉmon Project Seed is not only the dream multi-region Pokรฉmon game that people have always asked for, it also appears to be an MMO.

"Seed is a prototyping project for a next-generation online game playable by multiple people, set in a region that connects Hoenn and Sinnoh" https://t.co/JPN5tAJfr5
As mentioned by Centro Leaks, the game is also expected to feature the Kitakami region – which used to be a part of Scralet and Violetโs DLC.
Pokemon Wind/Waves is also expected to feature MMO elements, albeit in a much more simplified manner. This is, perhaps, a way to test the waters and generate feedback for Project Seed in turn.
Seed is no doubt one of the most ambitious Pokemon games we have seen in a long, long time and is shaping up to be quite the exciting new release. This is after the franchise languished in years of mediocrity, brought about by the lack of any real competitors in the space.
Itโs quite an exciting time to be a Pokemon fan, even if the leaks are going to very likely hurt Game Freak in some way or the other.
