Insomniac Gamesโ upcoming action adventure game starring the titular protagonist, Wolverine has finally received a release date for the PlayStation. The release date has been revealed to be some time in September, 2026 which is quite a bit earlier than your usual estimates.
That being said, here is everything youโll want to know about the game, ranging from its actual release date, supported platforms and more on the title itself.

After a rather abrupt, six second long clip emerged from Insomniac Gamesโ various social media channels, it quickly became apparent that the studio planned to release its upcoming Marvelโs Wolverine game very soon.
The clip mentions a release date of September 15, 2026 for the PlayStation 5 and PlayStation 5 Pro consoles.
Unfortunately, the teaser barely mentions anything else, which is quite puzzling. After all, now would be a great time to showcase the various editions, pre order benefits and in general, more about the game itself (of which weโve seen painfully little).
Doubly puzzling was the fact that Wolverine was mysteriously absent during the recent State of Play, an event that is usually reserved for first party exclusives (of which Wolverine ticks across all categories).
What About PC and Xbox?
Most notably, the release date trailer mentions a PS5 release only, with no mentions of cross platform releases. This really shouldnโt come as a surprise to anyone, given PlayStationโs recent movies as of late.
The company has almost always pivoted toward maintaining a sort of timed exclusivity with regard to its first party titles, often locking it down to the PlayStation 5 for upwards of half a year.
Only after this period ends does the game make its way to alternative platforms (more notably, the PC).

As such, expect a PC release for Marvelโs Wolverine some time in 2027 at worst, which should be accompanied by your usual series of quality of life upgrades and PC specific optimizations (such as ultrawide screen support and uncapped frame rates) in tow.
An Xbox Series X/S port is still very unlikely at this point. While PlayStation recently broke the ice by releasing Helldivers 2 on the Series X/S, it should be kept in mind here that it is a live service game.
Wolverine is an entirely single player campaign, and there is barely any incentive for PlayStation to release it outside of PCs (even if the hardware is more than capable), more so given these brands are competitors after all.
More On Marvelโs Wolverine
Marvelโs Wolverine was first unveiled years ago, set as a standalone entry in the world of (Insomniac Gamesโ own) Marvelโs Spider-Man series of video games. While being set in the same universe, the two games are not directly tied to each other, and share tidbits of lore and world development only.
The game since saw a significant delay after Insomniac Games found themselves as a target for malicious actors that breached a ton of confidential data. In short, a leaked build of the game was release online, and the team has been scrambling since to get everything sorted and ready for release afterward.
The game stars the titular protagonist Wolverine, in what is a visceral, gory take on the combat system and world set by Insomniac Games prior. Itโs no doubt shaping up to be quite an exciting little entry, and should be worth the wait.
