All New Characters in Invincible VS.
The game will see three new characters into its existing roster – apart from Omni-Man, players will get Rex Splode, and Battle Beast. According to the devs, each character brings a unique fighting style in the game. For instance, Omni-Man is categorized as “Balance/Power” fighter, great at dishing out raw damage output and all-around effectiveness. Battle Beast on the other hand, is a “Striker/Pressure” fighter, focused on landing attacks back-to-back, keeping its opponents on the defensive front.
The demo gave players at the event a chance to test out the new fighters hands-on. Much inspired from the series, Omni-Man’s powerful uppercut was a subtle nod to his raw power as seen in the show and as well as the comics.
More than Just Gore Visuals
Moving beyond the game mechanics, the game focuses on character-specific banter and dialogue before each fight, similar to DC’s Injustice God’s Among Us. This sets-up the tone for brutal clashes to come, for example, if Omni-Man is pitched against another Omni-Man, you could hear one of them taunting the other about a “unkempt moustache,” or Invincible complaining about Rex Splode’s quips. These small details add significant value, acting as a fan service for them to appreciate.
The game is easy to learn and even new players find themselves pulling off combos, dishing out a superhero-level damage.
Another aspect of the game which is worthy to be highlighted are its “finishing moves.” While some may find them as over-the-top, there are are some really cool ones in the game, for example, Omni-Man’s finisher involves grabbing an opponent, flying them through a city, crushing them through multiple building, and finally dropping a mountain of rocks on his enemy.
