Key Highlights:
- A recent GTA 6 rumor points to the game not being feature complete just yet.
- The game could be released well into 2027 at this rate.
- Weโve also had a series of leaks resurface as well.
Grand Theft Auto 6 is perhaps one of the most anticipated sequels of all time, and has been in development for literal years. The game was supposed to have been released early last year, but Rockstar Games decided to push it back all the way to November 2026, in a bid to polish it ahead of release.
Unfortunately, a recent rumor pins the date being pushed further beyond, as rumors of yet another delay surface online.
GTA 6 Might Not Release in 2026
Jason Schreier on GTA 6: the last I heard it was still not content complete.

GTA 6 is reportedly not โcontent completeโ, as per a recent comment from industry veteran Jason Schreier. He mentioned this in the newest episode of Button Mash, a rather popular podcast on Spotify.
In Schreierโs words, โThe last I heard, it was still not content complete. That is to say, people were still finishing things up, finalizing levels and missions, and seeing what is going to make it to the gameโ.

That being said, this likely means that the game has its content planned out for release, at the very least. Its just that the team at Rockstar Games is on full throttle, trying to polish up the game ahead of its eventual release.
This includes bug fixes and finalization of content, which could admittedly push it beyond the November 2026 release date. So far, Rockstar Games is yet to comment on the same, and weโll have to wait and see what happens next.
Given the grand scope of GTA 6, Rockstar will likely not settle for anything less than ideal, and delays are most certainly on the table.
Everything We Know About GTA 6โs Leaks So Far
This isnโt the only GTA related news weโve had thus far though. A recent series of X posts from user Gameroll were proven to be most likely true, after Rockstar Games reiterated that they had terminated the contract of multiple employees โassociated withโ leaking confidential information about the game to the public.
Gamerollโs comments on these leaks highlighted several changes and additions to GTA 6.
As far as gameplay was concerned, the dual protagonist system will be present for both Jason and Lucia. Players will be able to solo between Jason or Lucia at will, or even take control of both in certain aspects of the open world (as in certain missions).
There will also be a relationship bar present, which works akin to Red Dead Redemption 2, along with the gore and dismemberment system.
Itโs also expected to be an open world game of a massive scale being set on an island, with multiple chapters (5 total) to go along with it. The map also reportedly has over 700 buildings to interact with and explore, which sounds quite ridiculous if weโre being honest here.
The limited weapon system returns, and driving has been vastly improved over the previous entries, making it the โbest itโs ever beenโ. Youโll also have a 6-star Wanted level to familiarize yourself with, which has become a series staple at this point.
As far as combat mechanics go, Jason seems to be the far superior pick here. Jason can slow down time and reveal weak spots, making him a far superior pick over Lucia for gunfights, who is restricted to one shot.
Thatโs all we know so far. Expect more information to be revealed as the game nears its release date.
