Key Highlights:
- Genshin Impact version 6.1 is expected to have a livestream this week.
- The livestream will detail upcoming content and changes from version 6.0.
- More on the expected content and where to watch it below.
Genshin Impact is perhaps one of the most popular gacha games to have ever been released, amassing a large user base in a relatively short period of time. The game has seen a ton of content updates since its September 2020 launch.
Version 6.1 is the next version of the game, slated to be released in the second half of this month. To this extent, HoYoverse has arranged for a special livestream program to go along with it, the contents of which will be speculated here.
Genshin Impact 6.1 Livestream Date, Time and Where to Watch
Dubbed as โLuna IIโ, version 6.1 of Genshin Impact shortly follows the release of version 6.0, which also happened to be the gameโs fifth anniversary (Luna I). HoYoverse has prepared a pre recorded livestream for Luna II, set to be broadcast on October 10, 2025 at the following timings:
- 7 AM North America (GMT -5)
- 1 PM Europe (GMT +1)
- 8 PM Asia (GMT +8)
- 10 PM Australia (UTC +10)
As time zones are a thing, expect there to be differing release times depending on your current region. The stream will be broadcast simultaneously on HoYoverseโs official Twitch and YouTube channels.
What to Expect From Genshin Impactโs 6.1 (Luna II) Update
As far as the livestream goes, expect it to be razor focused on upcoming, playable content in version 6.1 – which is in turn expected to be released on October 22, 2025, following a long maintenance period. The game will remain inaccessible during the maintenance, so make sure to wrap up all your progress beforehand.
Genshin Impact usually follows a six week time period between new version releases, which gives us the estimated date of October 22. However, this could be subject to change, depending on the information released during the livestream.
As far as upcoming characters go, we are more or less expected to have Nefer introduced during the first half of version 6.1, as a playable 5-star Dendro character. Interestingly enough, Nefer scales off Elemental Mastery, and can convert your usual Dendro/Bountiful Cores into Seeds of Deceit, which cannot trigger Hyperbloom or Burgeon.
This makes her quite the tricky (but situational) unit who specializes in Lunar Bloom DPS, making her a unique addition to the game.

Furina will also be rerun alongside Nefer in the first half, and should pair well with Nefer.
The second half of version 6.1โs banners has far less fanfare attached to it and will feature reruns for both Zhongli and Arlecchino. In a way, having more reruns is a good thing, since it helps long term players save up on precious Primogems for future units.
As far as the gameโs story progression goes, we might be in for a treat. The game will most certainly focus on the lore and region of Khaenriโah, detailing what is perhaps one of the more intriguing aspects of Genshin Impactโs world and lore, with a more serious, darker tone in focus this time around.
Version 6.1 will also introduce a series of new events and a handful of the usual recurring ones, although we really donโt know much about this yet. We likely will have to wait until the livestream concludes before jumping into any more conclusions.
As far as other surprises go, there really shouldnโt be any, but Iโd be happy to be proven wrong.
