Escape from Tarkov just rolled out Patch 1.1.0.0, one of its biggest updates yet, bringing in a whole new Seasons system, plus many changes to gameplay, progression, and quality of life. This patch marks the start of the first season, KORD BREACH, and introduces new mechanics that completely shift how players move through the game.
With this update, players get access to a new Seasonal Character mode, a free Battle Pass, brand new weapons, tweaks to traders and the economy, deeper progression systems, and several gameplay improvements across PvP Season, PvP Zone, and PvE Zone. The patch also includes balance changes, interface updates, performance improvements, and bug fixes.
How the Seasons System and Seasonal Characters Work
Patch 1.1.0.0 brings the new Seasons system along with the first season, KORD BREACH. Each season arrives with its own set of rules, mechanics, rewards, and changes to gameplay, so players get a fresh sense of progression every time.
This update also adds Seasonal Characters. These characters are separate from your usual PvP Zone and PvE Zone profiles, and they live on their own servers. Progression for Seasonal Characters resets every four to six months, lining up with major content updates and the start of a new season. Players can create or swap between character types using a dedicated selection screen.

Global modifiers apply to all Seasonal Characters, affecting everyone in a season equally. Players cannot pick, change, or turn off these modifiers. The complete list of active Global modifiers appears when you create a Seasonal Character, and the developers say they might let the community vote on future modifiers.
As for Personal modifiers, these let players fine tune their seasonal progression. Choose positives and negatives when building your character.
- Negative modifiers give you points.
- Positives use up those points.
- You need a final balance of zero or higher to create your character.
- Picking personal modifiers is not required at all.
- You can always check your chosen modifiers under the Skills tab on your Character screen.
Battle Pass, Rewards, and Achievement Changes in Patch 1.1.0.0
Players unlock seasonal rewards by hitting certain PMC levels, finishing specific tasks, or completing task chains. Once you unlock a reward, it is yours, usable across PvP Zone, PvE Zone, and PvP Season.
There is also a new KORD BREACH task line. Completing it allows you to earn achievements, opens new Operational Tasks, unlocks trade offers for valuable gear, and scores a trade option for the new weapon. Any seasonal rewards still locked when the season ends are lost, but anything you have already unlocked stays on your account.
The free Battle Pass is another addition. Progress is shared across PvP Season, PvP Zone, and PvE Zone. You advance by finding TerraGroup documentation during raids, through the KORD BREACH tasks, or by taking out certain Black Division operatives.
Documentation works like regular task items. Every player finds their own documents on raids, and documents looted from fallen Black Division operatives become available for everyone. There is a limit on how many documents you can collect each day, depending on the game mode, with your progress toward that limit shared across all modes. Plus, a new Classified Documents item can stand in for any required document for Battle Pass rewards, and you can buy these through the Expansion Hub.
New achievements have landed as well, seasonal ones included. You can only earn seasonal achievements with a Seasonal Character, but you can keep going for them in future seasons. Starting with Season 1, the Kappa Path achievement is no longer available. Players who finish the Collector task get Dawn of a New Era instead. Anyone who already has Kappa Path keeps it on their profile, but it wonโt show up on Steam. Also, Chrisโs Heir now counts as Rare instead of Common.
Economy, Trader, and Hideout Changes
Side tasks are changing. Now, most side tasks are connected to specific Trader Loyalty Levels (LL). Traders hand out side tasks in batches of 2 to 4, and you can only work through them by finishing the tasks in your current loyalty level or reaching the next one. When you start a task chain, you will see the important rewards up front.
Group-shared task progression is also here. Now, squad members can advance eligible Story, Side, and Operational Task objectives together, even if they do not have all the tasks active, as long as they meet the conditions. Some task chains, like The Tarkov Shooter and The Punisher, will stay solo only.
Economy, Traders, Hideout, and Gameplay Changes
Balance tweaks are everywhere in this patch, touching PvP Season, PvP Zone, and PvE Zone. Trader prices rose by 25% on average, while the amount they pay out dropped by about 20%. The Flea Market fee jumped from 3% to 5%.
Trader sales volume requirements for Loyalty Levels are gone. Reputation and character level requirements for Loyalty Levels got rebalanced, too. A range of ammunition that used to unlock at Trader LL 2 and 3 is now available at an earlier level, and prices for select types dropped.
Hideout construction got easier for various Level 1 to 3 zones. Construction times are lower for certain areas, and there are fewer Found in Raid requirements for some materials in PvP and PvE Zones. Now, you can access Weapon Builds right from the start, no need to build the Workbench.
Insurance sees changes, too. Thereโs a new Jaeger option offering the fastest return times, but at a higher cost. Prapor and Therapist insurance is quicker now, and higher Loyalty Levels mean more discounts on insurance, healing, and repairs. Players also get a larger Medicine Case and Magazine Case, permanent Tactical Clothing which unlocks from Ragman across profile resets and Seasonal Characters, spectator mode after PMC death, expanded beginner support messages with equipment packages handed out every 18 hours, one-way EFT: Arena progression syncing to PvP Season, a dedicated game mode selection screen, options to change PMC appearance and voice, deeper player profiles, new environmental interactions, better loading screens, map optimizations for Streets of Tarkov and Customs, new weapons, ammo, attachments, streamer gear, Tactical Clothing sets, plus a lot of gameplay and interface fixes.
