Sony’s Bend Studio surprised fans at February 2025 PlayStation State of Play by introducing Days Gone Remastered, which is scheduled to launch on April 25, 2025. The game is expected to roll out across Steam, Epic Games Store, and PlayStation consoles.
While the announcement triggered interest in the cult-classic open-world survival game, it also revived speculation about a long-awaited sequel.
Days Gone attracted a loyal fanbase, as many players believe that it deserved another installment despite mixed critical reception at launch. Now, with Sony greenlighting a remastered edition, industry insiders suggest that Days Gone 2 could finally be within reach.
Historically, Sony has treated remasters as a litmus test for a franchise’s viability. The Demon’s Souls remake, for instance, preceded Elden Ring’s remarkable success. Days Gone Remastered not only excites its existing fans but also introduces the game to a wider audience base across multiple platforms.
Some sources suggest that Daye Gone 2 could turn out to be a cost-effective investment after Sony cancelled multiple live-service projects.
While no official confirmation of Days Gone 2 is available, the remaster’s success could serve as a decisive factor in Sony’s long-term strategy.
Despite its initial OpenCritic score of 72, the game gained traction among players. Few PlayStation exclusives have enjoyed Days Gone’s post-launch resurgence. Game designer David Jaffe discussed the possibility of a sequel, “The passion from fans has kept this game alive. Sony can’t ignore that forever.”
