Key Highlights:
- Battlefield 6 has declared a war on malicious actors and cheaters.
- The game has started to ban Cronus Zen users recently.
- This stands in stark contrast to Call of Duty, which implements a half baked solution.
Battlefield 6 has amassed a massive number of players since its initial release on October 10, 2025 across both PC and consoles (PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X/S). The game has since eclipsed the likes of Call of Duty, and has earned rave reviews from critics and fans alike in the process.
Given its focus on multiplayer co-op mayhem, Battlefield 6 does bring with it an unfortunate side effect of online lobbies, that is, cheaters. Hackers/cheaters are commonplace in online games, and Battlefield 6 is no exception to this either.
However, Electronic Arts and DICE seem to be taking things a whole lot more seriously this time around – opting to outright ban accounts caught cheating, which is something that its competitors seem to shy away from, for some reason.
Battlefield 6 Starts Banning Cronus Zen Users on PC and Consoles
Battlefield 6 is now banning Cronus Zen users with this message.

Players across both the Battlefield 6 and Cronus Zen subreddits have recently started to notice a rather ominous message appear in certain cases. The message reads, โYour account has been disabledโ, along with a mention of the user having violated EAโs User Agreement in the process – resulting in a โpermanentโ block.
For those who donโt know already, the Cronus Zen is a rather infamous piece of gaming hardware that integrates into controllers, facilitating the use of dubious methods such as custom macros, cheats and more.

In other words, Cronus Zen is mostly used to cheat in video games. EAโs decision to ban users flagged while using the product times suspiciously well with a recent post on the Cronus Zen Discord server.
Speaking out, the developer mentioned that all Battlefield 6 users should avoid using their product for now, while they work on โfixingโ the detection. PC players were warned in particular, although this should also be applicable to console players as well.
Players across the Battlefield subreddit seem to be taking this news rather well, with many celebrating these bans.
No matter how you slice it though, this is a net positive. Cheating has no business in video games, especially in competitive multiplayer scenarios, where one bad actor can ruin the fun of the match for everyone in an instant.
Call of Duty Has Historically Been Rather Lenient With the Same
Battlefield 6โs bans stand in stark contrast to Call of Duty, a title that has historically struggled against cheaters and bad actors. To date, there have been no explicit bans against Cronus Zen users in Call of Duty, which is quite an unfortunate predicament.
If anything though, Activision seems to have dropped the ball with regards to quality and keeping players in check with recent releases – instead choosing to completely ignore these forms of feedback.

Call of Duty lobbies (up until Black Ops 6) have always been infested with malicious actors, and this is very unlikely to change with the release of Black Ops 7. Battlefield did the impossible here, and brought about a blanket ban against most cheaters, which is a very commendable move indeed.
If anything though, this highlights a very important question – if Battlefield 6 can detect and ban Cronus Zen users, whatโs really stopping the likes of Activision (who have a much larger install base and plenty more resources) from doing the same?
