Key Highlights:

- It also has a surprisingly modest price tag of €50.
With the Nintendo Switch 2 console, Nintendo has been focusing a lot more on adding in third party support. We’ve seen both existing and upcoming titles being launched on the system, and Ubisoft’s recent Assassin’s Creed Shadows might just be the next title on the block.
While we’ve had some indication of the possibility of a Switch 2 port before, there was no confirmed release date to go along with it. Now, things are about to change as per a recent report, which suggests that the game could be released on the console by the end of the year.
Assassin’s Creed Shadows Heads to Nintendo Switch 2 Systems in 2025
As per an exclusive report from Dealabs Magazine and bilibili-kun, Assassin’s Creed Shadows is expected to be released for the Nintendo Switch 2 system on December 5, 2025. This release takes place 9 months after the initial launch of Shadows on PC and current-gen consoles such as the PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X/S.
The physical version of the game will be available starting December 5, 2025 in France. This will quite naturally be preceded by a pre-order campaign, which is estimated to be sometime within November 7, 2025.
Prior to this, we’ve had some indication of the presence of a Switch 2 port, which was all but confirmed by French retailer Auchan, when they mistakenly enabled Shadows’ game product page back on October 10, 2025.

These leaks also mentioned that the physical version of the game was quite unfortunately, only available in the form of a game key card. In other words, the box simply contains a code for the game, which must be downloaded in its entirety online – meaning that there will not be any fully featured game cart on offer here.
The Switch 2 version of Assassin’s Creed Shadows is expected to cost around €50, which could in turn, vary depending on your retailer of choice. Overall, it does seem like a smart move from Ubisoft, bringing the game to other platforms (like it did with the surprisingly capable port of Star Wars Outlaws).
Can the Switch 2 Handle Running Assassin’s Creed Shadows?
All things considered, the Nintendo Switch 2 should be more than capable of running Assassin’s Creed Shadows. After all, the portable console is noted to be able to run relatively heavy titles such as Star Wars Outlaws with ease, largely thanks to the optimizations put in by Ubisoft.
The Switch 2’s nearest PC competitor is Valve’s Steam Deck, which is noted to be able to run Assassin’s Creed Shadows impressively well. As such, Nintendo’s console shouldn’t have a ton of issues here.
That being said, don’t expect miracles. The Switch 2 is, at its core, a handheld. This means that it will simply never have the necessary grunt to run demanding titles at similar frame rates and resolutions, as opposed to the competition (such as the PS5).
Shadows should run with near Steam Deck settings on the Switch 2, possibly targeting 30 frames per second. It’s not all bad though, especially for a game like Shadows that can make do with 30 FPS.
As far as image quality goes, it should be comparable to that of the Deck, which is to say – good enough. The Switch 2’s use of DLSS might give it a competitive edge, but it’s honestly too early to jump into any conclusions right now.
We will likely have to wait for the full, retail launch before we make any further assumptions.
