  • Leaks reveal new story, new characters, and more.
  • When can we expect it to release.

A new leak provides concrete details about “Assassin’s Creed Black Flag Resynced”. The remake is said to go beyond a mere technical overhaul and expand Edward Kenway’s story with new characters and additional storylines.

Remake Will Have New Characters

While Ubisoft has primarily emphasized the technical modernization so far, the latest leak clarifies the project’s narrative depth. According to the leak, the game will be modernized for 2026 with “new characters and stories” to adapt the classic to contemporary narrative standards. This confirms the assumption that Ubisoft is using the remake to fill gaps in the original plot and make the Caribbean world more vibrant.

This time, as a result of seemingly a massive security flaw within the Indonesia Game Rating System (IGRS), Indonesia’s equivalent to the ESRB or PEGI, gameplay details and descriptions for upcoming games that were submitted privately for ratings classification have leaked online, including one for the Black Flag Remake. It’s revealed that when the Black Flag Remake launches, it’ll have new characters and stories.

“This title breathes new life into a fan favourite while remaining carefully faithful to the spirit of the original,” the game’s description reads. “It follows the story of charismatic pirate and Assassin Edward Kenway as he adventures through 18th Century Caribbean with parkours in cities, and battles at seas, in search of fortune and glory. Modernized in 2026, the new game includes a cast of new characters and stories.”

It’s unclear who those new characters are, but it’s been reported before that the Black Flag Remake will end up being more than just a fresh coat of paint. Along with new characters and stories, it will also ditch the much-maligned modern-day elements, as well as add in RPG elements that have come to define modern Assassin’s Creed experiences.

When Does The Black Flag Remake Come Out?

As per these rumors, Assassinโ€™s Creed: Black Flag Resynced supposedly has a scheduled release window of FY 2027 Q2, โ€œwhich is anywhere from June to August of this year,โ€ that may or may not be announced alongside the reveal. That means there may merely be roughly three months between Black Flag Resyncedโ€™s reveal and its release date, so long as it is not delayed.

According to insider NateTheHate, the press and various media outlets will have the chance to see the game this week. We can therefore assume that the public will get a sneak peek and hear journalistsโ€™ impressions shortly thereafter. Of course, this is just a rumor for now.

Remake Instead Of Remaster

The information about new story content is the crucial proof that we are dealing with a full-fledged remake. A simple remaster (like Assassin’s Creed III) would not justify new scripts or voice recordings. Comparisons to other modern remakes like “Resident Evil 4” or “Dead Space” are obvious: Ubisoft seems to be aiming to retain the core gameplay while condensing the narrative structure. The fact that the contemporary scenes are being cut, as stated in official announcements, is somewhat misleading. This suggests that the gained playtime was directly invested in new historical content.

The fact that “Assassin’s Creed Black Flag Resynced” is receiving new story elements is the most important news for everyone who knows the original inside and out. Technically, the upgrade to the Anvil engine (Shadows-level) was to be expected, but the expanded content is what truly makes the project a next-gen experience. Those who loved Edward’s journey will potentially get that “Director’s Cut” feeling here โ€“ provided Ubisoft has appointed the new writers with the same care as the original team.
