YouTube recently launched its Playables Builder platform, allowing those without any prior coding experience to design and polish their very first vibe coded game. Itโ€™s a monumental step in the acceptance of AI in game development, although its success (and scope) remains to be seen.

The program is currently in a closed beta phase, meaning that it cannot be freely accessed by everyone at present. That being said, hereโ€™s what you need to know about signing up for the beta, and of potential gotchas.

How To Sign Up For the Playables Builder and Make Your First Game

To begin with, you will firstly have to head on over to this particular URL. Once you are in the YouTube Playables landing page, scroll down and explore the page. There should be an option to be able to test certain pre-made games. which can be done by clicking on the โ€˜Discover Gamesโ€™ button.

This should redirect you to a page with a multitude of games on offer, which you can browse at your leisure.

Alternatively, if you wish to start building your very own game, click on the โ€˜Start Buildingโ€™ button in the upper right corner of the screen (marked in red). Within the dialog box, you will be prompted to enter your credentials and log in.

As access isnโ€™t live just yet, you will have to sign up for the program first, by clicking on the โ€˜Click Hereโ€™ button below:

  • Input your primary email ID in the first box.
  • If you have an alternative email ID, make sure to enter it in the next field.
  • Enter your YouTube channelโ€™s URL in the next field.
  • The subsequent field requires you to input your YouTube Channel ID, which is unique for each channel.
  • Finally, re-input your email ID in the last field.

All fields are mandatory, and should be filled up. In other words, you will require an active YouTube channel in order to be eligible for this.

Make sure to register your interest by clicking on the check box on the top and bottom of the form. Once you are done, hit the Submit button, and you should be done. All you have to do now is wait for the process to get approved and start building your very first game!

What Is The Playables Builder Program About?

As mentioned in the official YouTube Gaming post on X, interested players will be able to sign up for a limited run, closed beta test of sorts. This is a wrapper for a web based frontend utilizing Googleโ€™s Gemini 3 AI model.

The entire goal of the program is to be able to generate your own video games (albeit in a rather simplistic fashion) using Googleโ€™s Gemini AI modules. Do note that this is a very limited version of the tool at present.

The team at YouTube Gaming has already partnered with multiple creators such as Sambucha, AyChristene, Goharsguide and Mogswamp to generate a few sample titles for testing.

However, only a limited number of regions have support for the program (US, CA, GB and AU), so it might be inaccessible for you. Make sure to double check before heading forward with the sign up process.
