Arc Raiders becomes the latest title to include Denuvo to combat cheaters on their game, but it could just be a temporary patch than a long-term solution. Cheating has always been common in PvP games, both on competitive and casual levels, and considerably ruins the experience that player have.

To combat this, most games employ various anti-cheat methods which include softwares like Denuvo and BattlEye. But despite all these measures, cheaters still exist in games like Arc Raiders, because they use certain measures that cannot be detected by the anti-cheat softwares.

Hackers In Arc Raiders Could Turn to DMA Cheats Following Denuvo Implementation

Denuvo is a kernel-level cheat the software scans the system for any software that can alter the mechanics in Arc Raiders. However, it cannot really detect softwares that arenโ€™t installed on your system, and that is exactly why it isnโ€™t exactly effective on DMA setups.

Most cheaters use a different hardware altogether for their DMA setups, which is then connected via a USB port. This hardware runs the cheats on the PC, from aimbots to wallhacks.

It would be wrong to say that Denuvo canโ€™t detect DMA softwares, because it technically can. It monitors a playersโ€™ behavior and flags any anomaly. It also scans input ports for any spoofed input and flags them, but it isnโ€™t exactly reliable.

Softwares like Riot Vanguard and FACEIT Anti-Cheat, used by Valorant and Counter-Strike respectively. These are significantly better than Denuvo at detecting DMA softwares. In fact, Riot did make a joke about $6000 paperweights after their massive cheater ban weights, where they had banned several players for using hardware cheats.

Apart from that, hardware devices like Xim and Cronus also exist, which do provide users with a significant advantage over regular players in competitive games. Even with advanced anti-cheat software tools, cheaters just keep coming back with better and updated versions of these cheats. So, players do believe that cheaters, despite being banned from Arc Raiders at the time being, are going to be back sooner than later.

Cheating Caused Players to Depart From Arc Raiders En Masse

Considering Arc Raidersโ€™ long running popularity, itโ€™s no surprise to see a lot of players hopping into the game to explore the Rust Belt. Despite the availability of various survival tips for beginners in Arc Raiders, players were getting picked off left, right and centre by hackers. This forced a lot of players to depart from the game. With Embark finally taking a stance on this cheating issue, as indicated in their latest patch notes, players are expected to return to the game soon.

Although this patch is causing the game to crash on the Steam Deck and introducing other bugs, it is still a step forward in making the game more accessible to players across all skill levels. While players on social media appreciate this update, many are left wondering why Embark took so long to roll out an anti-cheat setup like this.

But either way, this has frustrated many cheaters and streamers who were using these cheats for a significant advantage in gameplay. For a streamer to be banned on grounds of cheating is actually very embarrassing and paints a poor picture in front of their fans. Many find it pretty satisfying to see cheaters all over the world frustrated with the latest Arc Raiders update, but suspect that theyโ€™ll be back soon once everything calms down.

But itโ€™s also worth noting that thereโ€™s a very thriving RMT market surrounding Arc Raiders, and itโ€™s a breeding ground for cheaters and hackers. Itโ€™s very difficult for developers to combat and shut down such markets overnight, so itโ€™s safe to say that cheaters will be back in the game eventually. But, players can enjoy a breath of fresh air for the time being, now that its a level playing field in the rust belt once again.
