8BitDo has just officially announced the Ultimate 3 and Ultimate 3E controllers for Xbox, PC, and mobile devices. These officially-licensed Xbox controllers are highly customizable and offer pro-level accuracy, and they’re a little cheaper than Xbox’s own Elite controllers.
This Collaboration Is Not The First For Xbox And 8BitDo
Xbox’s new CEO, Asha Sharma, has presided over a host of well received changes since taking over in February 2026, including a renewed focus on first-party exclusives, stronger third-party partnerships, and a recent price cut to Xbox Game Pass. While the future of Xbox consoles remains a hot topic among fans, the brand has made it clear that it wants to be a major player in the gaming hardware space. And that strategy now continues with the announcement of the newest officially licensed Xbox accessory.
For over a decade now, 8BitDo has remained one of the leading voices in the world of video game accessories, controllers, and peripherals. While the company has released an assortment of products over the years that have certainly taken inspiration from some of gaming’s most iconic color schemes and tech designs, 8BitDo has also made plenty of officially-licensed accessories. Xbox, for instance, has had a strong relationship with 8BitDo for quite some time, working with the company to release official Forza Horizon-themed charging docks, Rare-inspired controllers, and transparent green mechanical keyboards inspired by Microsoft’s first home console.
8BitDo’s Xbox Ultimate 3 Controller Series
8BitDo’s new Xbox Ultimate 3 controller costs $99.99 and offers a plethora of features you’d expect from a pro-level controller, such as back buttons, adjustable Force Rings for the TMR joysticks, hall-effect impulse triggers, and even extra bumpers. This controller is due out October 31, 2026, and pre-orders are open now via Amazon. When directly compared to Microsoft’s own offerings, 8BitDo’s Ultimate 3 controller most closely resembles the Xbox Elite Series 2 Core controller, which usually retails for around $140.

On the same day, 8BitDo is also releasing the Xbox Ultimate 3E controller, a higher-end model that costs $149.99. Amazon pre-orders are also open now for this model. Along with all the bells and whistles present in the Ultimate 3, the Ultimate 3E controller comes with a set of customizable magnetic face buttons and options for multiple user profiles, along with other exclusive features. As the higher-end model, this controller is more similar to the Xbox Elite Series 2 controller, which usually retails for around $200.
