Key Highlights:
- Xbox Cloud Gaming has recently had a new update.
- This update adds in a game that caters to zombie fans.
- This is only available via the โstream your own game serviceโ.
Xbox Cloud Gaming has grown leaps and bounds since its first inception, offering a generally great experience for players aiming to stream games to their devices of choice. The service also gets routine updates to its game catalogue, with a recent title from Techland making the cut today.
This game is none other than the recently released Dying Light: The Beast, which was confirmed on X recently. However, there is one very particular disadvantage to the service, which makes accessing the title a lot harder.
Dying Light: The Beast Added to Xbox Cloud Gamingโs โStream Your Own Game Serviceโ
As per X user red (Better x Cloud; @redphx), a set of new titles have been added to the โstream your own game serviceโ on Xbox Cloud Gaming. Of these, the most recent addition is Dying Light: The Beast.
It should be mentioned here that Dying Light: The Beast is a rather recent title, being released on September 18, 2025. As such, its addition is quite a welcome surprise.
However, as is the case with the โstream your own gameโ service, players will have to own an eligible copy of the Dying Light sequels in order to stream it, given that it is not available on Game Pass.
What Is the Stream Your Own Game Service in Xbox Cloud Gaming?
As the name implies, โstream your own gameโ is a special service baked into Xbox, which lets players stream a locally installed, digitally purchased copy of their game over the internet. Obviously, you will require a compatible device in order to stream the game.
Supported devices range from big screen TVs to mobile phones. No matter what you use though, make sure to have a controller connected for input.
This is one of Microsoftโs many attempts to make its services have as few restrictions as possible, in an attempt to unify the whole ecosystem.

Interestingly, this isnโt a fully local stream. โCompatibleโ Xbox games are run from the cloud instead, mandating the requirement of a digital license key (in other words, you must have bought the game from the Xbox game store).
Furthermore, you will also require an active Game Pass Ultimate subscription to access the service. This is on top of having to be an Xbox Insider. Taking all of these restrictions into account, it’s quite the underwhelming addition.
Even more so when we consider the fact that you are required to own a digital copy of the game for this to work. Physical versions wonโt cut it, likely done in a bid to curb reselling of these units.
Is Dying Light: The Beast Available on Xbox Game Pass?
Unfortunately, Dying Light: The Beast is currently not available in Microsoftโs Xbox Game Pass subscription service. This is a major sequel in the Dying Light universe, following protagonist Kyle Crane once more.
Which is a shame, given how good the title appears to be. It’s set up to be a deliciously gory open world zombie sandbox, with a heavy dose of parkour and combat sprinkled in between.
However, the game could ultimately make its way to Game Pass down the line, making it accessible for all Xbox Series X, Xbox Series S and Windows PC users. It should also be available in Xboxโs Cloud Gaming service too, if this follows suit.
The first Dying Light also made an appearance in Xboxโs Free Play Days event, where players could claim it for a limited time. All things considered, we might see Dying Light 2 appear first instead.
