Itโs been a crazy year for video game releases in 2025, with back to back blockbusters such as Clair Obscur: Expedition 33, Monster Hunter Wilds, and Hollow Knight: Silksong rocking the charts – to name a few.
September 2025 is no exception in this regard, and thereโs plenty of games to look forward to this month, other than the spectacular Hollow Knight: Silksong from Team Cherry, which seems to be dominating storefronts mere minutes after its release.
Major Upcoming Video Game Releases for September 2025
Five such most anticipated releases will be listed below, in no particular order, ranging from AAA to indie titles. Do note that this list does not take into account DLCs for existing games.
1. Daemon x Machina: Titanic Scion
Titanic Scion is the second game in the Daemon x Machina series, a rather curious little mecha battler that drew clear inspiration from the likes of FromSoftwareโs Armored Core series. While the sequel does seem to be a clear step up in terms of gameplay and presentation, it does lose out on its Armored Core influence by a significant margin this time around.

Regardless, it still is a fun little game, and is available on the Nintendo Switch 2 console as well, and is already available for purchase as of the time of writing this article.
2. Borderlands 4
Arguably the biggest AAA launch of the month (for better or worse), Borderlands 4 presents a return to form and a back to basics approach for the series. The looter shooter promises quirky gameplay mechanics and your usual dose of toilet humor (which is hopefully scaled back this time around), in a brand new package.
The game releases on September 11, 2025 for the PC, PS5 and Xbox Series X/S, and will be followed by a Nintendo Switch 2 release sometime later next month.
3. Final Fantasy Tactics: The Ivalice Chronicles
This is a remaster for the classic Final Fantasy Tactics, which was released for the PS1 way back in 1997 (for the Japanese version of the game). Since then, the game has gained a cult following, thanks to its use of tactical turn-based combat and an intriguing storyline.

2025โs version of the same is full-on remaster, aiming to bring the game to modern standards with updated sprite work and controls, all while maintaining the distinct charm and tone of the original.
Final Fantasy Tactics: The Ivalice Chronicles releases on September 25, for the PC, Xbox Series X/S, PS5 and Nintendo Switch.
4. Skate
Also known as skate. – this 2025 version of the beloved Skate series is a complete, free to play reboot of the franchise. Skate 2025 aims to be a sandbox styled experience, with multiplayer components baked in.
The game will be initially available via the early access model, starting September 16, and might just offer a skateboarding experience like no other – one that (hopefully) lives up to the legacy of the Skate series.
5. Silent Hill f
Silent Hill f is arguably the most anticipated release of September 2025 (assuming we pretend that Hollow Knight: Silksong does not exist), and is perhaps the dawn of a new Konami. Unlike previous Silent Hill entries, Silent Hill f takes place in Japan, and has a heavier emphasis on combat.
The gameโs plot has been written by Ryukishi07 – the author of the delightfully spooky โWhen They Cryโ series, so players can be rest assured that the game will deliver on the horror aspect quite well.
Silent Hill f releases on September 25, for the PC, Xbox Series X/S and PS5 consoles.
This wraps it up for the best releases of September 2025. Thereโs a ton of games releasing this month, and as such, it isnโt exactly feasible to list all of them here. Stay tuned for October 2025, where we will have a lot more interesting releases to look forward to.
