One of the interesting cards from the Paradox Drive set is Raging Bolt, a highly demanding Pokemon in terms of attack energy cost. To activate this card, players will need to allocate two Water-type, two Electric-type, and one Colorless Energy, five in total. Raging Bolt makes the grind worth it by knocking out the opponent’s Active Pokemon regardless of its HP. In other words, this particular creature can one shot every card in Pokemon TCG Pocket.

Pokemon TCG Pocket’s Paradox Drive Set Adds New Mechanic

Pokemon TCG Pocket‘s upcoming expansion is scheduled to go live on Wednesday, May 27, 2026, at around 06:00 PM PDT. What makes this set special is the addition of the Ancient and Future subcategories, which are said to feature unique interactions. The first time Pokemon TCG Pocket introduced a mechanic like this was with the release of the Extradimensional Crisis pack.

The official announcement for the Paradox Drive expansion states that players can create powerful new decks by using Ancient and Future cards alongside other cards in the same subcategory, but it does not go into further detail. However, if Pokemon TCG Pocket‘s Ultra Beast example is anything to go by, Paradox Pokemon will likely have Trainer cards that can trigger abilities or enhance their effects. For now, fans will have to wait for the set’s official release to see exactly how these subcategories will interact and synergize.

What are Paradox Pokemon and event that are coming with the Paradox Drive expansion?

Paradox Pokemon were originally introduced in Pokemon Scarlet and Pokemon Violet. In the games, they are Pokemon brought to Area Zero in the present through a “time machine” created by the professor.

These Pokemon are categorised separately in the Pokedex as Paradox Pokemon and differ from standard Pokemon in several ways. Aside from Koraidon and Miraidon, they do not follow normal naming conventions, cannot evolve or breed, and do not have corresponding TM Materials.

Paradox Pokemon are split into two groups: Ancient Pokemon and Future Pokemon. Ancient Pokemon appear in Pokemon Scarlet as prehistoric versions of modern Pokemon, while Future Pokemon appear in Pokemon Violet as futuristic robotic or cybernetic counterparts. The Ancient group features the Ability Protosynthesis, while Future Pokemon use Quark Drive. These Abilities boost their highest stat under specific conditions, including harsh sunlight, Electric Terrain, or the use of Booster Energy.

The Paradox Drive Emblem Event will take place from late May to early June, featuring missions and profile emblems alongside item rewards. A Community Week event is also planned for early June, with missions focused on trading and sharing cards. Rewards include trade hourglasses, special accessories, and other items. Later in June, players can take part in the Ceruledge ex Drop Event, which includes solo battles that reward B series vol. 9 promo packs. A separate wonder pick event will also feature Sableye and Floragato cards.
