Key Highlights:
- Nvidia is reportedly looking to bring back the RTX 3060 GPUs into the market starting Q1 2026.
- This is after discontinuing the RTX 3000 lineup entirely.
- The move comes as a desperate move to return to the consumer market as AI compute demands outweigh it at present.
The great memory shortage of 2026 continues to worsen, as even first party manufacturers and clients are left stranded in the dust. Even companies such as Nvidia are finding it increasingly difficult to grab memory for their consumer GPU lineup, with a new rumor suggesting that the RTX 3060 could be making a return.
To be clear, this isnโt really an unavoidable problem. As companies such as Nvidia continue to focus on enterprise level solutions for AI, consumer solutions are likely to remain side-lined for the time being.ย

rtx3060 Q1 come backโฆ ๐ฅฒ
As per a recent X post from user @hongxing2020, Nvidia has told its board partners (as of January 5, 2026) to reintroduce and ramp up production of its GeForce RTX 3060 GPUs starting Q1 2026.
Unfortunately, the post does not exactly mention which variant of the RTX 3060 will be making a return here (thereโs both an 8 GB and 12 GB version of the card), so expect the worst and you wonโt be disappointed.

The leaker has had a strikingly good track record with respect to Nvidia hardware leaks and production plans, so their word can be taken with *some* sense of credibility here.
That being said, the reason is quite obvious – AI, which has caused a worldwide shortage of silicon (especially in memory chips). In other words, this means that not even Nvidia can spare a few precious GDDR7 chips for newer cards (all of which have been allocated to AI datacenters instead), resorting to bring back the RTX 3000 series from the grave instead.
