Key Highlights:
- A new Nintendo Direct is scheduled for September 12, 2025.
- The Direct will bring with it both first party and third party titles.
- Potential reveals include a new Mario game and Resident Evil 7 for the Switch 2.
Nintendo is all set to launch a new Direct on September 12, focused on showcasing games for its incredibly popular, current-gen Nintendo Switch 2 system. Expect to see a ton of updates to existing titles, release date reveals, and a few unexpected, last minute surprise additions.
The dates for this particular Direct were leaked previously, and this is a rather strange deviation from the usual release schedule for Nintendo. The company used to hold their showcases on a Thursday, but this year they’ve deviated from their schedule.
When and Where to Watch the September 12 Nintendo Direct
After a rather suspicious series of leaks (which turned out to be true), Nintendo appears to be on track toward releasing a Direct on September 12, 2025. Interestingly, this is also the first Nintendo Direct since the launch of the Nintendo Switch 2 system (which had its own dedicated segment), so we can expect it to be extra special.
It has been quite some time since Nintendo has dropped any major updates or news for upcoming titles, choosing to stay mysteriously quiet about the whole affair.
The event will go live on September 12, 2025 at around 6 AM Pacific Time (PT) or 9 AM Eastern Time 9 (ET) and will be broadcast live on the official YouTube channel of Nintendo. The event is expected to run for about 60 minutes, but there may be some leeway in the programโs run time.
You can also access Nintendo Direct directly from the official Nintendo US webpage. However, this seems to include an embed of the official YouTube channelโs stream instead.

What to Expect From the September 12 Nintendo Direct
As far as the expected reveals go, there is quite a lot to cover as Nintendo prepares to leave no stone unturned. Expect there to be a major emphasis on first party titles this time around, with hints toward a possible new Mario game designed from the ground up for the Switch 2 hardware.
Titles for this weekโs Nintendo Direct should include the following:
- A new Mario game reveal
- Updates to the already released Donkey Kong Bananza
- Metroid Prime 4
- Hyrule Warriors: Age of Imprisonment
- Pokemon Legends: Z-A and a possible new Pokemon spin off title
- Resident Evil 7 native port for the Switch 2
- Hades 2 release
- Remasters and updates to existing Switch 1 games
- Miscellaneous other tie-ins and surprise announcements
The Mario game reveal is perhaps the most obvious pick here. The series is nearing its 40th anniversary, and you can bet that Nintendo has something big planned for its mascot. Another major reveal is perhaps in the form of a release date for Metroid Prime 4, which is going to be out for both the Switch 1 and Switch 2 systems.
We also might finally get a look at the first Pokemon spin off game, and an update on the progress of Hyrule Warriors: Age of Imprisonment. Donkey Kong Bananza is also expected to get a few additions at the end of the event.
Nintendo has also given a big push toward third party releases with this generation, and Capcom is expected to make a surprise appearance with this monthโs Direct.
Expect there to be Resident Evil related news and updates, with the possible reveal of a native, Nintendo Switch 2 version of Resident Evil 7: Biohazard.
Other than your usual slew of next gen titles and spin offs, there should also be a major update geared toward moving existing first party titles to the Switch 2, with a few graphical and performance upgrades scattered along the way.
