Insomniac Games used its Deep Cuts panel at San Diego Comic-Con on July 23 to debut a Story Trailer for Marvel’s Wolverine, built around Logan’s relationship with Jean Grey. The trailer opens on an enraged Logan confronting her in a moment of vulnerability, then widens into the conflict the game is structured around.
The panel brought together Creative Director Marcus Smith, Game Director Mike Daly, Senior Project Director Jess Reiner-Reed, and Narrative Director Walt Williams, joined by Liam McIntyre as Logan and Krizia Bajos as Jean Grey, with Marvel Games Executive Producer Eric Monacelli.
Which Characters the Marvel’s Wolverine Trailer Confirms
The trailer fills in the roster of opposition. Insomniac spotlights The Hand as a new enemy faction and positions Lady Deathstrike as one of the game’s major antagonists. Sabretooth, Omega Red, and Bolivar Trask also appear, with The Reavers named among the oppressive forces Logan faces.
The framing places Logan and Jean as allies rather than adversaries. The official synopsis describes uniting with Jean Grey to protect the vulnerable and fighting alongside Team X against those villains. Anyone familiar with the comics will note the shape of that relationship, given how often Logan, Jean, and Scott Summers have been written into a triangle, though Insomniac has not indicated how far the game goes in that direction.
Insomniac also released new art showing Logan against The Hand in their red garb, and says the two share a history that players uncover through the story. This is the second trailer in roughly a week, following a July 16 release that focused on the game’s cinematics and Logan’s antihero framing.
What Insomniac Revealed About Music, Comics, and Costumes
David Fleming is confirmed as composer. Insomniac describes his score as shifting dynamically alongside Logan’s journey, and the full soundtrack releases on August 28, 2026, with individual tracks already available on streaming services.

A digital prequel comic is out now, written by Walt Williams with art by Luke Ross and a cover by Iban Coello. It covers events leading into the main story and sets up Logan’s relationship with Team X on a mission to protect mutants. The comic was given away at SDCC and can be read through Marvel Unlimited.

The Arc System Works crossover runs in both directions. Wolverine’s suit from MARVEL Tลkon: Fighting Souls is unlockable in Marvel’s Wolverine through progression on day one, while the Battle Reborn suit from Insomniac’s game arrives free in Tลkon on September 1.
Why the September 15 Date Still Matters for PS5 Owners
Marvel’s Wolverine releases September 15, 2026 on PlayStation 5, with Standard and Digital Deluxe editions open for pre-order through the PlayStation Store and PlayStation Direct. The game was announced several years ago and delayed considerably after a 2023 leak at Insomniac exposed unreleased material.
One detail sets it apart from the other major release of the year. Insomniac has confirmed that Marvel’s Wolverine will ship on a physical disc, whereas Grand Theft Auto 6 will not, and Sony’s move to end physical media on its consoles does not take effect until January 2028. For a PS5 audience that has spent months arguing about disc availability, that distinction carries more weight than a September release date usually would.
