Key Highlights:
- Marvel’s Wolverine is coming along nicely, as per leakers.
- The game could see a reveal as early as this month.
- This could be followed by a release date reveal.
It’s been a while since Marvel’s Wolverine has seen any news or updates. The game was first teased by Marvel’s Spider-Man developer Insomniac Games during a PlayStation showcase in September, 2021. Unfortunately, the game was delayed past its 2025 launch window, thanks to a major hack suffered by Insomniac Games. This saw the release of a playable build of the game, along with some other classified assets.
With over a year having passed since then, Insomniac seems to have finally gotten back on its feet, and should be ready to showcase the game once more, along with a possible release date to go along with it.
Marvel’s Wolverine Could Be Showcased as Early as This Month
As per Tom Henderson of Insider Gaming, a State of Play is being scheduled later this month. During this event, Sony is expected to showcase some of their upcoming titles, including yet another preview for Ghost of Yotei, that goes like on October 2. Additionally, one of these previews is also expected to be of Marvel’s Wolverine, which was previously delayed indefinitely.
The trailer reveal date isn’t set in stone though, and could very possibly be delayed to 2025’s The Game Awards, which is hosted in December. After all, Geoff Keighley is known to give surprise reveals (as seen when he revealed Resident Evil Requiem during 2024’s The Game Awards).
However, the contact is known to be well regarded, and has a solid history of providing accurate leaks over the years. As such, we should most definitely see Marvel’s Wolverine sometime by the end of the year.
We're actively working on Marvel's Wolverine for PS5. We'll share news about the game when *we* are ready to share it. That will always be our answer.

We can't act on everything requested when things take time, resources, and the greenlight to share them.
Insomniac has also seemingly confirmed the same, as mentioned in an X post. The developer has maintained that they are ‘actively working’ on Marvel’s Wolverine, but has also mentioned that they can’t share everything just yet, which may be a hint for an upcoming teaser.

Marvel’s Wolverine Is Shaping up to Be a Great Game
Another aspect of these ‘leaks’ also happens to mention playtester response to the most current builds of the game. The responses are noted to be very positive, with the game noted to be ‘looking fantastic’ as mentioned in the video linked earlier.
Obviously, Insomniac has been cooking for quite some time since the ransomware attack, and they’ve progressed a lot from the cookie cutter builds that were leaked online. Still, it is quite impressive how far Insmoniac has managed to recover and build upon afterward.
The leaked build was quite impressive on its own, especially for being in such an early stage of development. The build had quite a few polished traversal and combat mechanics, which were obviously contrasted by the rather (understandably) basic, unfinished animations and visuals.
The ransomware attack not only exposed internal files, it also brought with it leaked private information of all employees, including their addresses and social security numbers for the world to see. This set back production by quite a fair bit, but everyone came together to finish the game at their earliest, despite the mental strain incurred. It’s certainly been a challenging year, but Insomniac seems to be back in form again.
The game appears to be mostly in its final development stages, and we could very likely see a release date reveal by the end of the year. Don’t go expecting it to release before 2026 though, or even 2027. One thing’s for certain, it will most certainly be a PlayStation 5 title, with a PC release following perhaps afterward.
