Summer Game Fest is almost here again, studios are gearing up to promote their games at the event. Among those, some developers have put out some vague teases with little to no explanation except something to chew over and start speculating about.

One of the latest companies to do that is ArenaNet. If you follow AreanNet on social media, you might have noticed that Guild Wars 2 and Guild Wars Reforged Studios have dropped a new teaser trailer.

AreaNet Drops a New Trailer

Developers and publisher of the Guild Wars series has recently dropped a short video clip on their socials. On the Guild Wars 2 X(formerly Twitter) account, they posted a clip with the message โ€œThe wind stirs. The world shifts. Stand ready.โ€ The video has no dialogue, showcases camera sweeping over the land, with some red banner looking bits waving in the wind as the perspective moves. At the end, one can see a sword being pointed out followed by the date 06.05.26 appearing briefly on the bottom of the video. They didnโ€™t make a specific mention of Summer Game Fest, but itโ€™s about SGF.

The main ArenaNet account shared the same video with a more direct caption: โ€œStand ready – and tune in to Summer Game Fest on 06/05/2026. Big things in the #games industry are brewing. Will you be watching?โ€

Of course the speculation has begun, with many fans expecting a potential Guild Wars 3. Alternative theories right now hold that perhaps they are just running a trailer at Summer Game Fest, that it is announcing Guild Wars 2โ€™s next expansion, since the team hasnโ€™t confirmed the next expansion at all or that it has something to do with Guild Wars Reforged. The evidence for this being more than an expansion for the existing MMOs is fairly strong. The teaser was posted across both the Guild Wars and Guild Wars 2 accounts, and Guild Wars 2’s latest expansion is still unfolding.

AreaNet’s Endeavours with Guild Wars Reforged and its iOS, Android Release

Initially the PC version of Guild Wars Reforged was released back in December 3rd 2025 on Steam and players have mixed feelings about the game, with one side appraising the new quality of life updates like controller support and other performance issue fixes. While a larger group of fans are disappointed over missing new content. Many players in forums like Redditโ€™s r/GuildWars feel the update was a missed opportunity. Because the project was branded as “Reforged,” some fans mistakenly anticipated a full graphical remake or major new story expansions rather than the technical and UI enhancements.

Similarly a mobile version of the same have been announced for Android and iOS with a global release scheduled for June 24, 2026. The game is currently in limited testing in select regions (Canada, Australia, New Zealand, and the Philippines) and is available for pre-registration on Android. And based on the early game testing reviews on Reddit, players again have mixed feelings about the game with many loving the fact, that now they can conveniently play the game from anywhere on their mobile device without any progression loss. While many who played the play test have noticed issues like cramped UI, lack of a dedicated attack button and no option to disable joystick overlays to maximize the screen space.

Though all these issues may be resolved as the game is still in a play test phase and has sometime before it officially releases globally. Right now what’s more exciting and have players hooked onto is what news we may get from ArenaNet on 5th June.
