Its been a while since we’ve heard much on the Assassin’s Creed’s front since Assassin’s Creed Shadows release last year, although Ubisoft did quietly confirm a Black Flag remake is in the works about a month ago. Now it looks like a major new releases coming out on April 7th and fans will likely want to mark their calendars for the big day.

PlayStation Spectral Super Resolution (PSSR) is Sony’s proprietary AI driven upscaling technology, which helps PS5 Pro to deliver high fidelity graphics at smoother frame rates. similar to Nvidia’s DLSS technology.

Under official Playstation’s blog, it’s been announced that Assassin’s Creed Shadows will get a major graphic update on April 7th thanks to the new PSR version. PSSR or Playstation Spectral super Resolution is an “AI library that analysis games images pixels by pixels as it upscales them.” So far PSSR has been used on over 50 PlayStation games.

The new PSSR upgrade will improve graphics across all modes in Assassin’s Creed Shadows. Dynamic Vegetation, Particle Effects, Ray Traced Lighting and Stochastic effects are just some of these highlighted features. The goal is offering a smooth and admittedly better looking experience. One last big update for Assassin’s Creed Shadows
This new version of Assassin’s Creed Shadows will launch on Tuesday April 7th 2026, at 7AM PT. After a year of updates and upgrades title, update 1.1.9 will bring things full circle to Assassin’s Creed Shadows as it enters its final phase of support around its first anniversary following its release on, 14th Feb 2025. However, the game will not get any major expansions with post launch support, winding down significantly as early as early 2026.

Assassin’s Creed Shadows had a bit of a mixed reaction at launch, But most review were mostly positive, although people did notice a few issues, including detractor like combat being too easy and there being too many side activities with the lack of real valuable rewards. From the story of the gameplay to performance fans had complaints, but the good news is that various updates over the past year have improved Assassin’s Creed Shadows a lot since the launch.
