Key Highlights:

  • CD Projekt Red might be working on a third, story focused DLC for the Witcher 3: Wild Hunt.
  • This DLC bridges the gap between the Witcher 3 and the upcoming Witcher 4.
  • ย A sequel to Cyberpunk: 2077 (titled Orion) is also in development.

The Witcher 3 is widely regarded as one of the best open world RPGs to have been ever made, and with good reason. CD Projekt Redโ€™s interpretation of Andrzej Sapkowskiโ€™s novels is rightfully deserving of praise, and CDPR has given back to the community in the form of 2 massive story expansions, which included a heartfelt goodbye for Geralt.

With the Witcher 4 officially in production, fans now have a lot to look out for, but a recent rumor seemingly suggests that CDPR might not be done with the Witcher 3 just yet, and might be working on a DLC set to release sometime in 2026.

CDPR Might Be Working on a Witcher 3 DLC Tie In for the Witcher 4

As per a recent post on Polish website Strefa Inwestorow, CD Projekt Red is planning to release a separate add-on DLC for The Witcher 3 sometime in May 2026.ย  This would be the third major, story DLC being released for the game since the critically acclaimed Blood and Wine, which was released way back in May 2016.

Assuming that this rumor holds true, it would be a 10 year gap between the DLC releases, and is quite an odd one if weโ€™re being really honest here. That being said, the DLC is heavily rumored to be a tie in to the upcoming Witcher 4 project, which is in turn expected to be released in Q4 2027.

The DLC is expected to be a paid add-on, at around $30 USD for the same. This particular DLC also serves as promotional material for the sequel, and it would be rather interesting to see how it all unfolds as it bridges the gap between 3 and 4, the latter of which stars Ciri as the new protagonist (and now Witcher).

After all, the bar set by CDPR with Hearts of Stone/Blood and Wine was quite astronomical, and fans will not expect anything less than a perfect product.

As always though, keep in mind that this report is based off of rumors. The contents and nature of the DLC will very likely be subject to change upon final release (assuming that there even is a DLC planned in the first place), so take everything you read with a huge grain of salt.

Cyberpunk Orion Is Also on the Cards

Itโ€™s also believed that CD Projekt Red isnโ€™t done with the Cyberpunk franchise either. While the launch of Cyberpunk 2077 was (for lack of a better term) a complete disaster, the team did manage to turn things around completely, earning back (a degree of) player trust and community recognition in the process.

To this extent, the team had already mentioned plans for a proper successor to Cyberpunk 2077, and one that does not underdeliver and overpromise on its potential.

According to the same news portal, CD Projekt Red is working on Cyberpunk: Orion, a sequel that consists of a team of 135 members, which is projected to double in size within the next two years.

In other words, Cyberpunk: Orion is developing at a breakneck pace, even if the estimated release window for the game is sometime in Q4 2030. Orion will also feature multiplayer elements, which is expected to be integral to the game.

This Q4 2030n release date also coincides with the 10th anniversary of Cyberpunk 2077, making the rumor somewhat exciting to believe in.
