The Epic Games Store is giving away two free titles this week, both of which became free on August 27 and can be claimed until a limited time only. The claim window closes on September 3, 2026 at exactly 8 a.m. PDT / 11 a.m. EDT / 3 p.m. UTC / 8:30 p.m. IST. Epic runs these giveaways every Thursday, often with more than one title. Once claimed, both these titles stay in your library permanently, whether or not you install them on your system.
All Confirmed Epic Games Store Free Games
The first game in our list is Breathedge, a first-person survival game from UAE-based studio RedRuins Softworks, which was released back in 2021. Players are stranded in the wreckage of a space hearse and must scavenge materials in zero gravity to craft tools, vehicles and upgrades while trying to survive in limited oxygen supply. The game plays its sci-fi setup for comedy, and an immortal chicken accompanies the player through it. Although its been sometime since its launch, the game still feels engaging as of date. The quirky humour still holds, especially using the chicken which somehow is unfazed by lack of oxygen.
It’s sequel, Breathedge 2 enters Early Access on August 31, four days from this giveaway’s first date. The original was also free on the Epic Games Store from April 27 to May 24, 2023, and was recently given away on Steam in early August 2026. Timing of this giveaway could very well be linked to the sequel launch, and be a marketing funnel rather than a “gift.” But in all honesty, it’s still a worthy title to get for free.
The second freebie this week is the Rival Stars Horse Racing: Desktop Edition which comes from New Zealand’s studio PikPok. The game let’s you race horses, breeding them and test your stable management skills, along with a genetics system for building bloodlines and a Horse Creator for custom mounts. Most of the game is single-player, although it does support online multiplayer for up to eight players across PvP races and co-op free roam.
Originally the game was launched on mobile in April 2019, with the Desktop Edition launching soon after on PC and Xbox in June 2020. The game eventually made its way to Nintendo Switch and PlayStation 5 this year in April 2026.
The game is fun to play, and yet again worthy of being added to you library if you’re someone like me who treasures free games. Although it might not be everyone’s cup of tea given that while the management sim audience is real, it is quite limited.
How To Claim Free Games on the Epic Games Store
Claiming freebies hardly takes about a minute and requires you to have a free Epic Games account with two-factor authentication enabled. Epic added the 2FA requirement to cut down on bot accounts hoovering up giveaway titles, so accounts without it will be blocked at checkout.
- Open the Epic Games Store free games page, either in the desktop launcher or a browser.
- Sign in, select the featured free title, and open its store page.
- Click the Get button, which sends you to a checkout page.
- Review the order and select Place Order.
- The total will read as zero and no payment method is charged, though Epic still emails a receipt.
Once claimed, the game is attached to your account permanently. You do not need to download or install it during the giveaway window, and it remains in your library indefinitely. Mostly, giveaways cover base games only and do not include DLC or expansions (unless it’s just a DLC and not the base game).
It is important to note that the game’s availability can vary by region on some promotions, so you must check the listing in your own country if a title does not appear. Epic also runs a separate weekly free-game offer on its Android storefront, which does not always match the PC lineup.
What Is Free Next on the Epic Games Store
Epic typically announces the following week’s titles when the current giveaway goes live, with the next rotation beginning September 3. You can check the countdown on the store’s free games page for the confirmed lineup.
The next confirmed title coming on September 3 is Alone With You, a space exploration adventure developed by BancyCo and launched in February 14, 2017.
Other recent giveaways included Cardpocalypse and an Epic Mage Bundle for Albion Online, Caravan SandWitch, We Were Here Together and Beacon Pines.
