Fortnite Chapter 7 Season 4, Override, launches August 20. The season starts right after Chapter 7 Season 3 ends on August 19 and Epic finishes its overnight downtime. This time, the story focuses on a major threat to the Island. Players need to override the Islandโs systems, take back key locations, and stop Geno before things spiral out of control. Expect new weapons, fresh updates to the Island, and a brand new Battle Pass.
The season leans heavily into a video game theme, bringing together characters and properties from a wide range of iconic franchises. Epic released the official Override trailer and key art on August 16, confirming the full crossover lineup. Some Item Shop drops remain listed as TBA, Sonic is confirmed for the Battle Pass at launch. A Tetris-styled outfit also appears in the pass, though dataminers are still split on whether it is a genuine Tetris tie-in or an original cosmetic. Most other collaborations are headed to the Item Shop later, though Epic hasnโt set those release dates yet.
Sonic brings a Green Hill point of interest, and Tetris is tied to a POI change of its own. Epic has also set up Lobby Hacks, a set of codes posted by its bot account in a Hint Transmissions channel on the official Fortnite Discord. Each code maps to a franchise, with “TakeYourHeart” pointing to Persona 5 and “PerfectOrder” to Tetris, and leaker iFireMonkey reports they will be usable after the Override launch event to grant in-game abilities.
Override Story Focuses on Taking Back the Island
At its core, Chapter 7 Season 4 delivers a direct mission to regain control of the Island and stop whatever Geno is doing. Players have to break through security, retake locations, and handle systems that are under attack. Visually, this season leans into cybernetic styles and system glitches. The big goal is simple: override the system before the Island suffers irreversible damage. Epic frames the threat as big enough to put the entire Island at risk.
On top of story changes, Override rolls out new weapons and tweaks to the existing arsenal. The Island is getting targeted updates too. Epic plans to release full details about gameplay changes, the Battle Pass trailer, and a technical patch when the update goes live. If you’re coming over from Chapter 7 Season 3, there’s just enough time to finish your Ranked rewards and Battle Pass levels. Both reset the moment downtime begins on August 19.
