Ubisoft’s Assassin’s Creed account posted eleven words on July 15 and set the community off. The tweet read that Ancient Greece awaits, misthios, and that it is time to begin an Odyssey again. That is the entire announcement with nothing concrete. No trailer, no logo, no date, no product.
Within hours, replies were treating it as confirmation that Assassin’s Creed Odyssey Resynced is in the works. The problem is that Ubisoft has confirmed nothing officially. It’s own franchise roadmap published in March listed Codename Hexe, Codename Invictus, Jade, and the Black Flag remake, with no mention of an Odyssey project. There is also a far simpler explanation sitting one day away on the calendar.
The Nolan Timing Nobody Should Ignore
Christopher Nolan’s The Odyssey opens in theatres on July 17, with preview screenings starting the evening of July 16. It premiered in London on July 6 and New York on July 14. It is the biggest film release of the summer, shot entirely on IMAX film cameras, starring Matt Damon as Odysseus.
Ubisoft tweeted about Ancient Greece on July 15. The word “again” in the post works as a pun on the film’s title as easily as it works as a remake tease. A publisher posting nostalgic marketing during the biggest Greek mythology moment in years is less likely to be a mystery, and more of a marketing move.
back in our greek mythology era

The reply from the Epic Games Store, noting everyone is back in a Greek mythology era, points the same direction. Storefronts do not typically comment on unannounced remakes but much rather on sales.
Fans noticed the connection too, and the single most popular reply in the thread went straight at it. One such users comment drew nearly 2,500 likes and over 120,000 views, arguing that the game was more respectful to Greek culture than the Nolan movie.
The Fans Asking for Odyssey Resynced
The loudest camp wants exactly what they think they are being teased.
AC YouTuber JorRaptor called the post a good way to gauge interest for Odyssey Resynced, and told Ubisoft to do it. That comment pulled 262 likes. Another user posted simply that someone is waiting to be resynced, drawing 241. A third posted the words “Assassin’s Creed Odyssey Resynced” and got 277.
Ah, great way to gauge interest for Odyssey Resynced ๐ (do it)

Collectively fans enthusiasm behind the requests is real, but there’s more to the narrative than just that. Practically speaking some fans want less than a full remake. Few of their requests included a proper PS5 port rather than a patch, a 60 FPS version for Switch 2, and the PC’s Epic settings brought to console.
Odyssey Isn’t The Only AC Remake In Demand
Not everyone is on board with Odyssey’s remake idea, as a group of fans feel than the title is fairly recent and could wait until the previous games have had their chance. Amongst the asks by fans, few recurring ones suggested taking the Ezio trilogy, Ezio Auditore’s story or even remaking Assassin’s Creed II, Brotherhood instead. The list is long but a rather clear indication that the fans are split into camps either in favour of the rumour or otherwise.
There is one more wrinkle to this speculation. Assassin’s Creed Black Flag Resynced only just launched, and its reception has been rather mixed. We recently covered how its stiff, frame-locked cutscenes undermined an otherwise strong remake.
Fans made the connection immediately. One reply pointed out they had only just started Black Flag Resynced and asked for a minute. Another was blunter, arguing Ubisoft cannot drop the Black Flag remake and then promote Odyssey in the same breath. A third sincerely requested Ubisoft not to use Nolan’s Odyssey as the basis for any Resynced adaptation. Weather or not the French video-game publisher actually decides to go ahead with Odyssey’s Resynced adaption is something which will be revealed in due time.
