What is Samson?
Samson returns to Tyndalson, a city that shaped him hard, where every fighters close and escape is earned. He urged dangerous people more than he can pay and they’re using his sister to force his hand. The clock is ticking. The only way out is through anyone who stands in his way.

Liquid Swords describes itself as a non-sense game studio. Sunburg saying modern game development has become overwhelmed by distractions that affect quality and motivation. Liquid Swords has been affront about what fans can expect from the game at launch and and that it is a smaller scoped game than originally envisioned, with about 25 to 30 hours of gameplay and bugs.
Samson’s Comparisons to GTA
Samson’s comparison to Rockstar’s GTA series, people may love GTA, but they may not want to play it forever. That’s where Samson could find its place. Samson and GTA both are similar but Samson with gritty to city setting and vehicle mechanics disguise itself, melee combat, a smaller scope and a $25 price point puts itself more as a high stakes, 90s style action experience, rather than a GTA killer. It is though similar to GTA, with an open world crime thriller set in the dense city environment, vibes are also similar with the grimy street level atmosphere similar to GTA 4 urban crime and a live city with destructive environment.

But there are some key differences between GTA and Samson. It is a smaller game with about 25 hours of gameplay while GTA can take way longer than that. this is a merely brawler only game so that means it’s more focused with hand to hand combat and there are no guns while GTA is defined by its gun mechanics and This also adds another layer on players with its “daily depth” mechanics, which intensifies the pace at which you are completing missions as to GTA, where players can do one mission and then roam around create chaos in the whole city.
SAMSON: Open World GTA-Like, but with Melee Combat (no guns) as the primary focus.

Liquid Swords Downscale
In Feb of 2025 Liquid Swords laid off staff in a move that Sunberg said was necessary to ensure the developer’s long term stability. Liquid Swords was founded in 2022 after Sunberg left Avalanche the studio behind the game series Just Cause.

Liquid Swords laid off half the development team, Sunburg said that this resulted in the studio needing to pay back its vision for Samson. “We just shelved those features and save them for the next game, depending on the success of this.” Sunburg said, “So a lot of those more heavy RPG systems sit there waiting to get back into game. Maybe for a sequel or for post launch I don’t know really”.
