  • Kuronami 2.0 bundle releasing with update for Season 2026 Act 3.

Valorant just dropped the trailer for their new game mode Skirmish Ascension for close quarters gun fight enjoyers, with the 2.0 version for fans beloved Kuronami skins.

What Is Valorant’s Skirmish Ascension Mode

The Skirmish mode was originally release back in October 3rd 2025 as a custom game mode players can warmup, play custom 1v1s or more, and practice while having fun. And with the massive popularity of the mode among the fans, Valorant decided to evolve this into the new mode called Skirmish Ascension.

In Skirmish Ascension players can queue for matchmaking and play Skirmish against other players with similar skill level or MMR, Players can play in either 1v1 or 2v2 format with a curated agent pool with limited abilities, staged weapons, and a competitive ladder via the FTW website where you can earn in-game rewards.

Weapons are staged by round phases,

  • Phase 1 – Pistol rounds with the Bandit and Sheriff
  • Phase 2 – Eco-Rifle rounds with the Guardian and Bulldog
  • Phase 3- Rifle rounds with the Phantom and Vandle

Meaning players choice of agent will matter in the fight as to what suits their playstyle best from the select agent pool with one specific ability from their kit.

The current roster of Agents and their abilities is as follows:

New Ranked Ladder System For Skirmish Ascension

Valorant is trying something different with rank system this time, as stated by Valorant on the website “This is a new experimental version of ranked weโ€™re trying due to the high amount of requests for a more competitive experience”.

So where normally players get ranked rating (RR) in-game and a badge to display that rank in game, instead now the ranks will be displayed on the FTW ( For The Win) website, where players would be able to view their ranks and progression, along with the leader boards for the 1v1 and 2v2 modes respectively.

The ranking system is similar to the one currently in-game with going from Iron to Radiant. Players can connect their accounts with FTW and start queueing for matches, during the launch event for the mode players can also earn rewards based on ranks and some for just playing games as well, that can be redeem through the FTW website once the event is over.

Here is a list of the requirement and rewards that can be earned during the event:

Player Card: Act 3 Key Art – Combat Ready
Play 15 games
Player Card: Homepage – Trade Me
Rank Gold to Plat

Rank Diamond to Immortal

This is a new experimental version of ranked so if this will be a permanent system for ranked or not still all depends on what the fans feedback to the new system. The event goes live starting on April 29th PT, along with the Season 2026 Act 3 and Kuronami 2.0 Bundle.
