Key Highlights:
- Silent Hill f is shaping up to be a fantastic game.
- The game has a greater emphasis on combat.
- This might make or break the game for some, but that is perfectly okay.
Silent Hill f releases sometime later this week, and promises a return to form for the Silent Hill series. This is part of a renaissance taking place at Konami, established with the release of the Silent Hill 2 remake (courtesy of Bloober Team) and Metal Gear Solid Delta: Snake Eater.
Silent Hill f also features a stark departure from existing norms set by the franchise. While Silent Hill does let players use a variety of weapons, they have never particularly been the point of focus. Things are changing though, and f might just be the soulslike Silent Hill we all were waiting for.
Silent Hill f Has a Much Greater Emphasis on Combat
This bit should be obvious for anyone who has seen any recent Silent Hill f previews. Silent Hill f features a disproportionately greater amount of emphasis on its combat, especially when compared to other aspects of the game.
In fact, one could even say that combat is integral to the new Silent Hill experience, which is quite the odd change in direction. After all, while Silent Hill has never exactly left players helpless, offering them weapons to fight back, these have been barely impactful. Furthermore, ammunition and supplies are quite limited in these games, as is the amount of medicinal resources.
Silent Hill f changes a lot more than just adding bits of combat though. The entire game has been revamped with a combat system in mind, which does remind you of the classic Dark Souls formula.

Players will be tasked with dodging, parrying and countering enemy attacks. The game can also be quite difficult at times, and might even mandate a few retries during its 10-20 hours long campaign. Its a game that requires patience and practice.
You will primarily be using melee combat here, and facing off against fleshy, grotesque monstrosities. Additionally, like bonfires, players will also have places to rest and save their progress, but make no mistake, for this is Silent Hill at its core.
Thatโs not entirely a bad thing though. Silent Hill f keeps its essentials intact, and offers what is perhaps one of the best Silent Hill games to date. The core horror of the unknown is inlain beautifully with a gripping narrative from none other than Ryukishi07, the creator of the deliciously frightening โHigurashi When They Cryโ series that spawned multiple manga, anime and visual novels.
When Does Silent Hill f Release?
Silent Hill f releases worldwide on September 25, 2025. This will be a simultaneous, global release for PCs and consoles (PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X/S). Sadly, thereโs no news of a Nintendo Switch 2 port just yet.
While the game is set to โofficiallyโ launch on September 25, players can gain access to the game early by purchasing the Deluxe edition of the game, which has the following contents embedded within it:
- Full version of Silent Hill f
- Digital Artbook
- Digital Soundtrack
- The Pink Rabbit Costume
- White Sailor School Uniform
- Omamori: Peony
- Item Pack ( Shriveled Abura-age + Divine Water + First Aid kit)
Of these, the last 3 entries are technically part of the pre-order bonuses, and are available in the standard edition (assuming you made the pre-order) as well.
Those with access to the Deluxe Edition of Silent Hill f can play the game starting from September 23, 2025 without any further restrictions. That being said, it’s a good idea to wait the extra two days and save some money in turn instead.
