Key Highlights:
- Halo 2 and 3 to get a remake after Halo CE, its claimed.
- The multiplayer components of this game will be absent in the remakes.
- This has not been taken to kindly by most fans of the franchise.
The Halo Combat Evolved (CE) remake was finally unveiled, after years of intense speculation on October 24, 2025. Developed using Unreal Engine 5, this particular remake aims to be faithful to the original, only making changes where necessary and preserving the overall look, feel and gameplay of the 2001 classic.
That being said, the remake leaves out a crucial aspect of what made Halo so addictively refreshing back then, and this trend might continue onto the rumored remakes of Halo 2 and 3 as well, it’s believed.
The Halo Trilogy Remake Will Not Have Multiplayer Modes
After the reveal of Halo Campaign Evolved, Xbox is set to sweeten the deal, it’s claimed, with the release of full blown remakes of Halo 2 and Halo 3. These leaks were shared by user Halo Leaks (leaks_infinite) on X, going into details on the future of the Halo franchise as well.
While information on these remakes (including their release dates) is still largely unknown, what we do know is that these games are definitely in the pipeline, and will feature many caveats of Halo 1โs remake, including the controversial ability to sprint.
Remakes of Halo 2 and 3 will likely follow if Halo Campaign Evolved is deemed as successful, it’s also hoped.

Interestingly enough, none of the entries in the trilogy will have their multiplayer components included, and Xbox has taken the strange decision to focus only on the campaign for the remakes.
While thereโs no doubt that the entirety of the trilogy features excellent campaigns, multiplayer was a big deal for Halo back then, and for many, the major reason to buy an Xbox over a PlayStation.
The games have aged remarkably well, and are still a blast to play through with randoms online or with friends in split screen multiplayer.
Launching a Halo title without multiplayer included isnโt going down well with fans, which is understandable, given how big the multiplayer aspect of the game has always been.
Halo 7 to Feature Multiplayer Instead
Interestingly, this leak also mentions the presence of a Halo 7, scheduled for an unknown date. Thereโs no solid release date for this either, but it’s estimated to be releasing between 2025 to 2026, as per multiple OPโs sources online.
It was also meant to have launched alongside the Halo 1 remake, but it got delayed for unknown reasons.
Halo 7 is also being designed as the multiplayer experience for Halo fans, in a weird way to divert attention from the fact that none of the Halo trilogy remakes will have multiplayer added to it.
This kind of makes sense from a competitive standpoint, as launching multiple games with multiplayer would have them competing for each other, cannibalizing into the player base. As such, having multiplayer attached to one game makes a whole lot of sense here.
Not choosing to release the multiplayer components of the remakes is a pretty strange move regardless though, and this looks like yet another squandered opportunity from Xbox. That being said, these could make their way over to Halo 7, and it’s hoped that the game will feature dedicated game modes that feature the classic games.
Instead of having to be forced to play and deal with one kind of play style, that is. Only time will tell though, and we will have to wait and see how this all pans out for Xbox, Microsoft and the fans.
