Key Highlights
- Devil May Cry 6 (DMC 6) is expected to be shown off during February 2026โs State of Play.
- A remake of the first two Devil May Cry games might be a better idea at this point for Capcom.
- More specifically, a remake for DMC 2 might be the better idea, since it is considered to be the worst game in the series.
Itโs been a while since weโve seen any recent developments in the Devil May Cry series, with the last mainline title being the incredibly popular DMC 5, a game that proved yet again that Capcom could stick true to its roots and innovate for the new age.
With nearly seven years past since the release of Devil May Cry 5, fans have been eager to have a glimpse at the next chapter of the series, and as per a recent rumor, they need not look further than the upcoming Sony PlayStation Direct.
A New Devil May Cry Game Could Be Shown Off at The State of Play (February 2026)
As per user TripleSeven, a new Devil May Cry game is reportedly being teased for PlayStationโs upcoming February 2026 State of Play. This would be the sixth, mainline entry in DMC series and assuming itโs true, would be a great time for fans to jump into the series afresh.
User TripleSeven has previously been very accurate with respect to their leaks, and this should hopefully hold the same as well. However, leaks are leaks and you should take whatever you hear from the internet with a grain of salt.
Going back to the State of Play, the program is rumored to be returning on February 12, 2026, being broadcast live on the official YouTube channels for PlayStation. As for the rest of its contents, thereโs really not much we know about just yet.
We do know that this is expected to bring a few major announcements, but other than leaks thereโs not much else to go about on, save for a few assumptions.
As for the new Devil May Cry, it is expected to be built on top of the impressive in house RE Engine much like DMC 5, and should feature cutting edge visuals, along with your usual dose of crazy, action packed combat the series has been regarded for.
A New Set of DMC Remakes Are Also In Order
While it most certainly is great to see Capcom go back into the Resident Evil 4 spinoff series once again, a series of changes might be in order.
The Devil May Cry series initially began life as a build for Resident Evil 4, before being canned entirely (due to it being a lot more different when compared to the traditional RE formula), and then re-emerging as a standalone title in 2001 for the PS2.
This game saw a modest amount of success, which prompted the release of Devil May Cry 2, which is considered by many to be the worst entry in the series. Capcom quickly corrected course with the subsequent release of DMC 3 and its successors, all of which were praised for its fun combat and bombastic protagonist, Dante.

Itโs often considered to be some of the best the hack and slash genre has to offer, and there is a lot to like here.
That being said, the Resident Evil Remake treatment is something that DMC sorely needs at this point. DMC 1 and 2 are ancient and hold outdated game designs that make them a chore to play through, which is quite a shame.
In the case of DMC 2 the whole game needs a rework, including its story. DMC 3 is also a likely candidate for as remake, simply due to the fact that it has the most potential to do well in such a scenario.
Regardless, a remake for the DMC series is now long overdue.
