In a tragic turn of events, Activision has recently announced that it would be permanently shutting down Call of Duty: Warzone Mobile later this year, amid concerns of not being able to retain the playerbase.
That being said, here is everything we know about the announcement, what it pertains to existing players and more.
Activision To Shut Down Call of Duty Warzone Mobile in April
Call of Duty Warzone Mobile is set to be shut down on April 17, 2026 as per an official statement from its Activision Support website.
This news shouldnโt come as a shocker to anyone though, since Warzone Mobile was already kind of dead at this point, with the team delisting the game from both Android and iOS app stores back in May 2025.

The game has since seen no additional updates, and this fate was inevitable. The team also mentioned that they were proud of their accomplishments, while acknowledging that they fell short for mobile first players.
This caused them to pull the plug (that, and a dwindling playerbase).
What This Means For Existing Players
In a nutshell, not a whole lot, at least for free to play players. If youโre a whale or have spent some amount of money on the game, thereโs a few things to keep in mind.
For starters, if you have unspent Call Of Duty Mobile points, now would be a good time to spend them all before the game gets taken off life support. If you have an Activision account, your progress and cross game rewards will carry over to other Call of Duty games.
Make sure to link accounts and unlock these additional modes, since some of them are usable in certain versions of Call of Duty Warzone.
The Fate Of All Live Service Games
Such is the fate of all live service games. Competition is cutthroat, and any semblance of mediocrity and a subpar experience (when compared to its peers) will result in the game dying out.
This is precisely what happened with Call of Duty Warzone Mobile, it was way too niche and the original Warzone Mobile offered a superior experience to begin with, which dwindled its player base, causing its eventual shutdown.
That, and the fact that the market is intense, with heavy weights such as PUBG mobile and Fortnite as its many, many participants.
Activision Has Been Trying To Get Warzone PC To Be Better
In other news, Activision has been trying hard to bring Warzone, and the Call of Duty franchise as a whole, back to the popularity it once enjoyed. Itโs no secret that Black Ops 7 was a disappointment in more ways than one, and this caused tremendous losses for Activision.
The game, despite having raving critical reviews, managed to fall flat on its face when it came to user reviews. It didnโt help either that Battlefield 6 came out and was a much more polished title overall, which resulted in a mass exodus of Call of Duty players.
Activision has been scrambling since, trying to win back its playerbase. To this extent, the company has introduced many changes, including a limited time Black ops 7 free trial across all platforms.
