Ananta Gets Its Second Major Reveal Trailer, Here’s What We Know

Ananta Ananta

Key Highlights:

  • Ananta recently unveiled its second major trailer.
  • The game can be best compared to an anime GTA like title.
  • Ananta has a playable section during TGS 2025.

The mobile gaming space has seen quite a few exciting advancements in the past couple of years, spearheaded by the release of open world gachas such as Genshin Impact. Ananta is one such open world mobile game, which draws in a ton of inspiration from the likes of the Grand Theft Auto franchise.

Thereโ€™s a lot more than just GTA theyโ€™re emulating here though, and Ananta also copies a few mechanics from other games, such as Marvelโ€™s Spider-Man (with respect to its traversal mechanics). All of this was revealed thanks to a second trailer drop for the game.

Ananta Gets a Long Second Trailer

Ananta received a second, major gameplay trailer earlier today. Taking place in the fictional Nova City, Ananta is best described as an open world sandbox, with anime styled characters and interactions in place.

The game can be perfectly described as an amalgamation of both Genshin Impact and Grand Theft Auto, which is quite evident in the recently uploaded 7 minute long gameplay trailer.

That being said, Ananta also innovates a little, introducing combat sections that feature close quarters action and a sense of realism. As far as traversal goes, the mechanic seems to be directly lifted from Marvelโ€™s Spider-Man series of games, and players can expect to swing around the city using a kind of grappling hook extension.

Its also possible to switch between characters at will, but with a twist. Characters donโ€™t form your traditional โ€˜partyโ€™ (outside of combat), and have their own activities while idle. Switching to another character using your phone will immediately teleport you to their location, from which you can begin controlling the character, who can be fully customized. Ananta features in-depth cosmetic options, along with a few matching colorways.

The game is also quite goofy, and features a ton of wacky cutscenes and NPCs to go along with it. While we really donโ€™t know anything about the gameโ€™s plot just yet, expect there to be twists and turns outside of your usual tomfoolery.

What Is Ananta, Exactly?

Ananta is a free to play game being developed by Hangzhou based studio Naked Rain and publisher Netease Games. This role playing title was also previously known as Project Mugen, and has been making waves across the gacha gaming space.

While unconfirmed, Ananta is very likely being built using the Unity game engine, which is par for the course (if not a bit disappointing).

Ananta features vibrant, cel-shaded anime-esque visuals with a rather bright color palette. The game borders on urban fantasy, much like HoYoverseโ€™s own Zenless Zone Zero, which bears a rather surprising number of similarities to Ananta.

Interestingly, Anantaโ€™s open world consists of procedurally generated segments, with each world being composed of stitched up locations of pre designated regions. While this concept sounds cool, how it will fare in its execution remains a point of concern.

As far as gameplay goes, it is more close to GTA than anything else. The game features an open world with tons of interactive segments, and players can take to the streets with some forcibly acquired vehicles, or by swinging through the cities.

Additionally, Ananta also lets players switch to a traditional 4-team composition during combat scenarios. Team synergy is important, and players will be able to mix and match units to their liking.

While we donโ€™t know the official release date for Ananta just yet, the game is expected to make an appearance during the Tokyo Game Show of 2025, where it will be hosting a playable demo.
