Hollow Knight Silksong has been in the making for almost seven years now. With the first game going live back in 2018, fans were eagerly waiting for the sequel to the much-loved metroidvania title. Team Cherry promises that this title is bigger and better than the previous one, so everyone has been waiting for it to release with bated breath.
During Gamescom 2025, Team Cherry finally announced the Hollow Knight Silksong release date for September 4, 2025. It’ll be a global launch, but the studio won’t be following a staggered release. Instead, the game will be released all over the world at the same time, but the timing may vary based on your timezone.

While the game drops on September 4, 2025, here are the different times for the different regions around the globe:

In case you don’t see your region mentioned in the list above, check out the region closest to you and calculate the difference between the two time zones to figure out when it’s releasing in your country. There’s been a lot of hype around the game at this point in time, so there’s no chance they’ll be delaying at this stage. While it shouldn’t be a game with an always-online functionality, you might end up experiencing a hiccup or two during launch.
In case that happens, then we recommend that you wait it out for a bit before trying to access the game. There shouldn’t be any major performance issues either. But if there are any, expect Team Cherry to sort all that out within a day or two of the game launching. There’s been a lot riding on this title so it’s likely that the developers won’t let major issues persist for long.

Hollow Knight Silksong Has a Similar Effect Like GTA VI
Despite being two vastly different games, Hollow Knight Silksong and GTA VI are two major hitters in the gaming world. Rockstar Games was extremely secretive about the GTA VI release date that they held the entire video game industry hostage. Most developers were eagerly waiting for the release announcement so that they could plan their releases either before or after Rockstar dropped their popular game.
What transpired from that is a different issue altogether but Hollow Knight Silksong has had a similar effect. It’s being dubbed the GTA VI of indie games, and has indeed forced many indie developers to push their launches to a later date. Team Cherry gave a two week lead time before their title dropped, which many feel isn’t enough time at all. Additionally, any game releasing near the Hollow Knight Silksong release date, would easily be overshadowed, thanks to how popular this title is.
Hollow Knight Silksong will be available on major platforms like PC, PlayStation and Xbox. It’s also available on both the Switch 2 and its predecessor. The game however, won’t be available on the Wii U, much to the dismay of a lot of people around the world. It’s rather interesting to see that the game gets a direct Switch 2 release, but titles like Clair Obscur: Expedition 33 need to apparently wait for the dev kits for a port.
With such a major console coverage, the game will definitely reach a massive audience around the world, so expect to see some really high sales figures. Since the first game didn’t disappoint, it’s unlikely that Hollow Knight Silksong would do so either. It’s only a matter of a few hours to see how this long-awaited title fares amongst audiences across the world.
