Assassin’s Creed Black Flag Remake Features Cut Content From the Original Assassin’s Creed Black Flag Remake Features Cut Content From the Original

Key Highlights:

  • Details on the Assassin’s Creed Black Flag remake have once again emerged online.
  • The leaks detail a return to RPG-like elements for the game, and the inclusion of previously cut content.
  • However, there still are a few concerns that need to be addressed.

Ubisoft has been secretly cooking a few projects behind the scenes, and the Assassin’s Creed Black Flag remake happens to be just one of the more anticipated ones out there, projected to be released sometime in 2026.

The remake clearly has a lot to live up to, and as per leaks, Ubisoft is going to add quite a few changes to the original, such as the inclusion of more RPG elements. One of the other changes was the reintroduction of certain cut content to the game, which should please fans of the original.

Assassin’s Creed Black Flag Details Leak Online

The Black Flag remake has got to be one of the worst kept secrets in gaming, and there has been much discussion of its scope and contents prior. A video from the YouTube channel Jeux Video Magazine is the current, up to date source of these leaks.

Jeux Video Magazine has provided a few accurate leaks for Assassin’s Creed related stuff before, so their claims can be taken with a certain degree of validation here. That being said, leaks are still leaks, and you should expect there to be some changes to the final, retail version of the game.

What to Expect From the Assassin’s Creed Black Flag Remake

To begin with, the Black Flag remake should see a complete shift in its gameplay, aligning closely to that of modern Assassin’s Creed games. In other words, the game shall feature a lot more RPG elements.

This will extend into the addition of both loot and gear stats for Edward, the protagonist of Black Flag. Additionally, expect there to be changes to the inventory system and combat as well, which should now contain RPG elements instead of being choreographed like the original.

It’s quite the curious change though, and might not sit well with everyone. If anything, the remake has been explicitly mentioned to be not on the same level as the ‘big budget’ Resident Evil remakes from Capcom.

The Black Flag remake is expected to be a lot smaller in scope and scale, but Ubisoft still plans on adding some additional content along the way. This includes more activities and filler side content, while maintaining the same size of the original map, which is a smart move. After all, there really is no point in padding out content for no reason.

Other improvements include the removal of loading screens while transitioning from land to sea, and the shift to the current-gen Anvil game engine from Ubisoft (used for the creation of Assassin’s Creed Shadows), which should give it a visual overhaul.

There Are Some Concerns That Need to Be Addressed

These leaks also bring with them a certain degree of uncertainty and concern with them. In particular, the game’s decision to remove modern day elements entirely could potentially turn out to be a sore point for players.

Ubisoft has seemingly decided to replace these segments with cut content from the original game, such as parts from Mary Read’s storyline, and a few more sections from Edward’s pirate life instead.

While the modern day sequences in Black Flag certainly weren’t anything to write home about, a complete removal still remains quite bizarre.

Then there’s the fact that Ubisoft has been allegedly reusing assets from Skull & Bones to cut down on costs. To be clear, there is nothing wrong with reusing assets in games. It’s just that Ubisoft has to blend in these assets so that they don’t stand out as a copy-paste job.

The Assassin’s Creed Black Flag remake is expected to be released around March 2026, but a few other sources claim that the game may be delayed to winter 2026 instead.
